I've been coming here since I was a little girl, and it is one of my favorite places in the world. The ambiance is where it's at, guys. The restaurant is actually housed in the same building as a beautiful Hari Krishna temple; the outdoor courtyard is stunningly beautiful with a living tree, fountains, and heating and cooling for when the temps are less than ideal. It's a positively dreamy place, with an ambiance falling somewhere between comfy and exquisitely romantic.
The food is tasty, (although, admittedly not the greatest in the universe) - it's all 100% vegetarian and served in buffet format, with a rotating selection of hot Indian food, a variety of breads and chutneys, a cold salad bar (the almond tahini dressing, y'all), and the delicious (sweet!) house tamarind iced tea. There is usually lasagna for those of less adventurous tastes, and there are always vegan and gluten-free options marked on the white board above the buffet. They never use any meat, fish, eggs, onions, or garlic to accommodate various dietary and religious restrictions, and always use strictly fresh, never-frozen ingredients. Save a little room, though - desert is included, and there is usually the choice between their incredible vanilla rice pudding and a rotating flavor of warm, pudding-like halva. And they'll bring you the check after you're done eating. :-)
Be aware that they close for a few hours in the afternoon between lunch and dinner, so don't show up at 4. And while you're there, be sure to kick off your shoes in the shoe room and check out the gorgeous prayer room just across the hall from the restaurant. The members of the temple are all remarkably friendly, welcoming, and generous and will be willing to answer questions or...
Read moreWe were really craving some Indian food and decided to stop by here because of how unique it was. This is a vegetarian buffet styled restaurant that's located inside a temple. There weren't too many options when I was here, but everything they served that day was delicious.
There's a fairly large parking lot with ample parking even on a Friday night. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating had a magnificent tree and each table was equipped with a heater so you don't have to worry about it being too cold. I preferred eating outdoor as it was not as crowded as indoor.
The concept is simple. You walk in, immediately grab yourself a tray, plate, and utensils and then proceed to filling your plate with whatever you want. Remember, it's buffet style, so you can have more than one round. Do not overfill your plates with food that you cannot finish. After you grab your food you can go and pay for your food before finding a table. When it's time for you to get seconds, you can go right back to where you started and just grab a new plate for food. At the end of the meal, you can just leave the plates at the table. I believe they also allow you to take the leftovers home, which is very nice of them.
On the night I came here there were people dancing in the other rooms of the temple. Please respect the posted signs...
