Del Mar Seafood Restaurant — Restaurant in Garland

Place looks ok from outside view. But definitely a total difference inside it is a hispanic sea food restaurant which I liked the idea since I have been wanting or better say craving a COCTEL DE CAMARONES but was quickly disappointed by the way style it is served in a small (small) not medium but small caldo or cereal bowl type so that already took the candy eye out ,if any one else is not familiar or is you know that Coctel de camaron or any coctel is served in a glass tall cup type so yes it looks appetizing the size for the prize was aagh expensive but me and my husband said well if it tastes good it will be totally worth it. Wrong the first bite I took I could tell right away it was waltmart bag shrimp!lol the small ones too I could taste the water from inside the shrimp as its thawing and it was gross we keep adding and adding salt,valentina since it was flavorless and way too sweet from the v8 or tomato juice to make then I asked for some lime to juice it and maybe a bit of flavor I achieved a somewhat taste and was able to chew them down with tons of saltine crackers which made the difference but I have to be honest that was my favorite part of the meal the crackers. My husband left his half way he just couldn't take it . Also I want to mention there is no chips or anything brought to table while you wait. Like I said if you ever been to a mariscos restaurant you know the big difference but not on the prices lol our ticket was $29 something for 2 LARGE (which weren't!) cocteles and one coke since I opted for a water wont be coming back for sure nor will I...

Nothing that I dislike more than wasting good money on bad food. Seriously disappointed with this place because it was highly recommended. Maybe because we went on a Friday afternoon? The place was practically empty. Our waitress, a young girl (college age maybe) was great. But the food? Just disappointing. I ordered a shrimp cocktail. It was chewy and I felt sick to my stomach when I'm more than halfway through with it and I start seeing the shrimp brown- just dirty uncleaned shrimp. We ordered the 5pc buffalo wings with fries. The fries were the most decent thing from that dish. The wings were just not good. Not crispy at all- almost soggy. My husband ordered the caldo de pescado. He wasn't pleased. Said it tasted old and also had a lack of flavor. Even the cilantro they gave us on the side looked old! Overall, we were extremely disappointed and don't plan on returning here again. Food was ok, a little too oily. Ok margaritas. Social distancing seating was great. Waitress we first had spoke broken English so they quickly replaced her with a very sweet and very attentive waitress. She came around quite often which gave this rating a 4 instead of a 3. Was really disappointed in the cutlery. The plate we ordered had a salad and the cheap fork didnt and shouldn't be used for this type of food. Rice is the parboiled stuff but they seasoned it enough to make it taste decent. I'll have to come back to try the shrimp tacos...
