I have visited other Liberty Burger locations in the past; however, this particular location on 5211 Forest Ln. and its general manager, Sebastan, are both a disgrace. I entered this establishment on the Aug. 8th interested in a bison burger. I requested a manager to take my order because I had special requests for my diet. I requested 2x Medium Rare bison burger patties, on a wheat bun, maynassie, and extra veggies, substitute grilled onions for the raw onions, and the burger cut in half. That’s it! Sebastan did not repeat my order in its entirety. The bison burger was incorrect, missing the second meat patty and extra veggies. Afterwards, I requested and paid for the second bison patty. Sebastan indicated the second burger patty would be prepared in a few minutes. However, after more than 15 minutes has past, I was presented with a “Well Done” bison burger patty. Remember, I requested the patties Medium Rare. I took a photo and allowed Sebastan to see and acknowledge the second patty had zero pink throughout. Afterwards, Sebastan agreed to remake the second bison burger patty Medium Rare, as I initially requested. For the third mistake, the second bison was not a Medium Rare and I was presented with raw onions instead of the requested grilled onions during the beginning of the order. To sum it up: my meal went back to the kitchen three times, but it still was not fully correct. Next, I requested a refund for the terrible lunch experience I received at Liberty Burger. Sebastan stated there would not be a refund for me. He went on to state the burger was halfway consumed. This was a false statement. There were about three bites total on the first half of the burger with the second half of the burger still present. Sebastan not only failed to take responsibility for his mistakes, but he accused me, the customer, of “being difficult.” This is not how any manager should handle a customer concerns and complaints: Sebastan did not listen, acknowledge the problem, get the facts, apologize and offer a solution. Moreover, Sebastan stated he did not care if I responded with a review. Well, I hope this review allows you, the reader, to make an informed visit before you visit the particular Liberty Burger. Read moreFlavorful would be the word I would use to describe my trip to Liberty Burger. I ordered the Chillerno burger. It's not much to look at, and is quite messy, but the flavors of the sauce, the cheese, and the peppers go together quite nicely. The bun was very high quality as well. I ate the fries with Liberty's own chipotle ketchup sauce and that is an amazing sauce. It looks like they have a custom mustard and maybe some other custom sauces to check out as well.
Having read many reviews, I was a little thrown off when the girl at the counter asked me if I wanted my burger with pink or no pink. I expected to specify "Medium Rare" or "Medium." I asked her if "pink" meant "Medium Rare" and she said yes but to be honest I don't think she really knew...pretty sure she just knew pink or no pink. Which is fine...I'm used to that at Maple and Motor so I ordered it pink (fwiw, I prefer medium rare). My burger had spots of pink and by definition would be classified as a Medium Well burger. Given that, there is no way I could rate this burger on the same level of Maple & Motor. Still, the flavors overall were outstanding which is why I give this place 4 stars. (fwiw, I read a lot of reviews of people complaining that their burgers were too pink/rare...those burgers sounded like they were perfect).
I don't get people complaining about the price. My burger and fries were $10.28 after tax. They weren't stingy on the fries either. I could easily see people splitting an order of fries. For the record, I never order a meal with a soft drink and shame on you if you do. I was happy to see they had lemon AND lime to be used for water. Big thumbs up for that.
I came to this location because it's the original. It's in an older strip mall, but I think they did a pretty good job of livening it up some. The clientele here seemed on the older side, which is probably due to it's location. The workers here seemed very young. I'll definitely come back to LIberty Burger. I would like to try their traditional liberty burger and am hoping to get a burger that is Medium Rare or at least Medium the next...
Read moreMy recent Dallas roadtrip was filled with many decisions.. The most important one was where to eat a burger with recently engaged friends. Strongly recommended, I selected Liberty Burger as my first choice. This highly regarded "family-owned and Texas-grown" burger spot was voted as the Best Burger in Dallas two years in a row by D-Magazine. But, do I agree?!
Walking into Liberty Burger, I was excited to feast on one of their hamburgers made from a unique blend of never-frozen tenderloin, chuck and brisket. That day Liberty was featuring "The Austin Burger", blending their special patty with applewood smoked bacon, cheddar, red onions, fried pickles and a Dr. Pepper BBQ sauce (I'm not sure why this combination represents Austin), topped with a brioche bun, which is delivered daily by a local artisan bakery. Looking at this burger's photo on their "special menu marquee", which looked and sounded delicious, I was sold.
At first bite, my taste buds were not amused, so I decided to cut the burger in half so I could see how it was prepared. The burger was a little too pink, rendering it undercooked. I could see the various meats (tenderloin, chuck, brisket) almost in layers, not even ground together. The brioche bun was flat, dry & tasteless, adding no flavor to the hamburger. As I continued to eat, the fried pickles' flavor stood out above all else, and I barely recognized the presence of BBQ sauce. Overall, this was one of the most disappointing burgers I have ever eaten, given the hype, buildup, anticipation and accolades Liberty Burger has received. However, the side of sweet potato fries accompanying the burger were actually pretty good, so I did not leave totally unsatisfied.
Fortunately, my weekend included a delicious burger at a July 4th celebration catered by The Burger Man. But, the next time I'm in town, it's back to The Burger House for my Big-D...
