I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the unprofessional and hostile treatment I received at your restaurant on 10/26/2023 at 10:30 AM.
I walked in to pick up my to-go order and was directed to a stand by a young lady. When I went to the stand, I couldn't find my order. I returned to the young lady and told her this. She then turned to a young man and asked him if he had made my order. He said yes and walked over to a different area. He pulled my bag from a shelf and threw it down on the counter, saying "Here it is." He then started mumbling something to himself, directed at me. I said "Excuse me?" and he said "You heard what I said." I told him I didn't hear what he said, and he became confrontational and started to walk around the counter towards me.
An off-duty employee intervened and pushed the young man back. The off-duty employee then turned to me and said "We don't allow people to talk to our employees that way." I was confused, because I had not spoken to the young man in a disrespectful manner. I expected the off-duty employee to apologize for the way I had been treated, but instead, she made me feel like I was at fault.
As I was leaving, two employees yelled "Bye!" at me, as if I was being kicked out of the shop.
I am appalled by the way I was treated at your restaurant. I have spent thousands of dollars at your establishment over the years, but I can assure you that we will never return.
Specific complaints:
The young man who made my order was unprofessional and hostile. He threw my bag on the counter and mumbled something rude to me. The off-duty employee who intervened did not apologize for the way I was treated. Instead, she made me feel like I was at fault. However, my son now attends a nearby school, so I decided to try this location again hoping it had changed for the better. It was good in fall 2024 when I first started ordering from this location again, but it has once again gotten worse. See second photo from this morning for the shmear I received in exchange for the $1.89 charge. Even when I took a knife to spread the shmear, it did not cover the entire bagel. Additionally, one lady, who seems to be a manager, gets irritated if I ask for more shmear. She will only give me a tiny to go container of shmear, but I want it on the bagel when I walk out the door. I shouldn't have to add it myself. Looking at the current reviews, I don't think I'm the only one getting irritated with both the service and product. I place my orders in the mobile app so I can grab and go after dropping my son at school. I wonder if the staff is instructed to use as little shmear as possible on mobile orders thinking people won't complain. This "lack of shmear" has been happening to me a lot lately, so I sent a message to corporate via the Einstein website on 3/2/25 about the inconsistency of product at this location. I received a response on 3/21/25 stating, "We are sorry to hear about this mishap." It's not one mishap; it's multiple mishaps. And there was no context about addressing the situation in the store so the "mishap" doesn't continue.
