Since moving to Lake Highlands last year, Mario Brothers Tacos has become my go-to spot for authentic Mexican food. In an area where good Mexican cuisine is hard to find, Mario's truly stands out. The place is family-run, and the siblings Karen and Mario are wonderful—they make you feel right at home with their warm hospitality and dedication to quality.
Chicken Tacos: The chicken tacos are simply delightful. The chicken is perfectly seasoned, tender, and juicy, providing a flavorful bite every time. The soft corn tortillas are fresh and hold up well, even with the generous toppings. Fresh cilantro and onion, add cheese, and a hint of lime make these tacos light and refreshing. Adding a touch of their house green salsa gives the tacos just the right amount of kick.
Veggie Burritos: As a fan of vegetarian options, I was pleasantly surprised by the veggie burritos. They’re hearty and satisfying, filled with a well-balanced mix of beans, rice, grilled vegetables, and avocado . The flavors blend beautifully, and the burrito holds together nicely without being too heavy.
Tripa Tacos: The tripa tacos are a bit more adventurous, and they don’t disappoint. The tripas are cooked to a perfect texture—crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The rich, savory flavor is balanced by fresh toppings and a squeeze of lime. While tripas may not be for everyone, those who enjoy this traditional Mexican delicacy will find Mario Brothers Tacos' version well-executed and satisfying.
Overall Experience: Mario Brothers Tacos delivers on both quality and flavor across their menu. Whether you’re a fan of classic chicken tacos, looking for a satisfying veggie burrito, or craving the authentic taste of tripa tacos, this spot has something for everyone. The casual and friendly atmosphere, coupled with the personal touch from Karen and Mario, adds to the experience, making it a must-visit for anyone in the Lake Highlands area. Highly recommended! AND they are open late...
Read moreThe reviews were good so I went, but these tacos were very salty!!!!!!!! I wouldn’t pick them over the ones from shells gas station on loop 12 I’d drive there before I come here again! The short guy who works the register is not too friendly, but I would give the tacos a 1 out of 10. My husband rates them a 0 out of 10 he hates them. The store is clean and welcoming! I did however enjoy the chips and guacamole and also the young lady who taking orders was professional. Update!!!! After eating those tacos my stomach hurt all night last night! Never eating here again! 2 stars was updated to 1 star. And as I mentioned before my husband hated the tacos running a business you will not always get 5 stars if you are a true business owner you wouldn’t be responding to me in a unprofessional manner as you are now you would understand our opinions are our opinions the whole experience was not bad the store is clean however the tacos are not good! Don’t chew me out I’m sure I want be the first or last person who didn’t like those tacos.
I notice as I get deep in the reviews you are actually unprofessional to every bad review and as I stated once before I’m not the only one who didn’t like those salty tacos moving forward someone need to tell you that going back and forth with a customer is not cool it makes your establishment look bad not to mention it does not notify you when I edit so you are practically problematic and love drama Iv never went to a business where a owner argues in a google review about how I personally feel about a taco don’t talk smack and then invite us back your customer service along is unwelcoming and you are definitely not a good example of great management as mention before I want be the first or last person who simply don’t like your tacos, they almost sent me to the er my stomach...
Read moreI've heard about Mario Bros and it's been on the list to go for a few months now. I finally made the trip down to this location. I went around noon so the place was about half full. I've heard good things about their tacos, but having noted that the price of items was fairly cheap I decided to grab a quesadilla as well. I eyed their Agua Frescas and noticed they had a few different kinds (Hibiscus, Horchata, Mango, Lemon, etc). I ended up asking for their recommendation and they conveyed that their horchata was the one people usually grabbed so that's what I got.
I ended up grabbing 2 Pollo Tacos, Trompo Taco, Chicken Quesadilla, and a Horchata. The photo I attached doesn't do the food enough justice. The chicken tacos were so juicy. From what I could tell, they cooked the meet with cilantro and grilled onions and put that on the corn tortillas. These were then topped off again with cilantro and raw onions. This was my first time having Trompo tacos, and they left a good impression. I ended up using the salsa verde for all of the tacos, but it wasn't as spicy as I expected so I added the Chile sauce, which made it better. The quesadilla was packed with meat, cheese, onions, and cilantro. This is probably one of THE BEST quesadillas I've ever had in my life. For the price point, even more worth it. It's cheaper than most Mexican restaurants I've been to in town. The horchata was pretty sizeable and quite sweet so I was only able to finish about half of it. I recommend getting it if you and another person would like to share or you like sweet drinks.
Definitely recommend checking this place out, and when I go back I'll probably get something similar and also try the...
