Let me begin by setting this statement down on your review table. If I don't say it now, it's likely that I will forget it once I go into story telling mode, and it does need to be said. This review only works out a third star because I do really like the Lo Mein. I mean REALLY. And if you follow my reviews at all, you know I don't often set down my funny bone fountain pen to talk all Montel Williams serious... But tonight has made me so disappointed that I just can't hold back that daytime Emmy nomination attempt. Here is Part One of my night. If you'd like to read Part Two, please head over to the China Bowl Express on Jupiter Road when you're finished here.. or should I say, after you've been turned away an hour before this review closes. Twice.
It was a clear black night.. ahem, sorry, let me clear my throat. It was raining hard at about 9pm tonight when my SO and I finally settled on Chinese for a late dinner. We ran to the car, wiped the rain from out faces, and headed to our favorite local drive-thru China Diner, Rice Bowl. Now, normally, we order the same thing through the horrible speaker that we do every time and head back home to share oily soy heaven on two plates, but tonight we opted for a warm summer rain romantic dinner in the run down renovators dream that is Rice Bowl. Opted for, but did not get.
We approached the door, drenched again in the short distance from the car, to find it locked. At 9:15. We checked our pocket clock phones again, looked at the sign on the door that clearly stated "open until 10:00pm," looked at the people inside ignoring us with all their might, and raced back to the car. At this point we recognized that the drive through was still open. Settling for that high tech speaker and another YouTube-documentary-of-what-the-hell-is-really-in-the-Nevada-desert kind of night, we got in line. About half way through telling our order to the dimly lit menu board and the cracking thunder overhead, my increasingly less patient SO was interrupted by the man behind the menu. "One second," it said.
Now, I interrupt this tale to bring you the following message from our sponsors. Customer Service Rule no. 57: Don't tell your guests "one second," "hang on," or any other rude ass variant of "I'm too busy for you."
And now, back to our program. Rather than sit there with the window gaping wide and drinking down the raindrops like a withering rose bush, we pulled forward to join the vehicle ahead of us under the awning over the gimme-your-money-here's-your-heartburn window. Before we could even fire the neurons of mouth watering memory from the mere mention of egg drop so.. INTERRUPTED AGAIN. "No more soup tonight." Remember how my SO was growing ever more patient on this gloriously hot and rainy Wednesday evening? Yeah? Well, we drove off without a word. Oh well. At least it's humid....
Do our heroes ever get their Chinese dinner? Do they get to have a mid week date night? Or will it all end up washed down the storm drain? Join us for Part Two: Trouble on the China Bowl Express to find out how this...
Read moreI will NEVER come to this place again, or as long as they have that RUDE A**, "GERMAN", that is supposedly the manager working there. I had to give it a star to be able to write on here, but it doesn't deserve it. This guy wanted to charge me $3.50 to have a little onion & egg added to my order, $3.50, really. He should me the scoop, which is the size ALL or MOST Chinese places use to serve their rice & said that due to only getting 1 scoop, he would have to add extra rice & that is why the extra charge of $3.50. I want asking for freaking meat to be added! I would have paid a little extra, but not $3.50 as if I had ordered a plates of fried rice w/meat. This guy is very rude & he acts as if he is the owner & stated he will ALWAYS be there... I don't even want to eat the food that I paid for, cause he tools the cook to not add sesame seeds to the E12 I had ordered, then he told the cook to add them at the window & was trying to whisper something to him, & when the cook was questioning him & what he told him, this "German" guy went into the kitchen to tell him whatever it was that he was telling him... Again, I will NEVER eat here again. Persons like this, regardless if the food is good, make you not want to spend your hard earned...

I ordered a small plain lo main , I went up to the window to pay with apple pay , before I could even hand my phone to the lady she stated she did not "reach " when I was holding the phone up to her hand she said " if you want to pay with your phone come inside bc i will not grab your phone and be responsible for breaking it " mind you i have done this payment method time after time at this location , she then proceeded to SHUT THE WINDOW TO MY FACE . I went inside to pay as requested , she sat down on a chair on her phone IGNORING ME . Her husband then stated " she is the owner i can not do anything about it " i did not want a free meal or anything half off i was willing to pay even after the horrible service , but i was kicked out after asking for a reason to her unethical behavior . so sad about this because i really love their food but they have lost a costumer , everyone around this area knows better than to come here they rather go up the street for better service . que verguenza que son hispanos y no conosen la humildes . pero dios repago de...
