As a previous business owner I know first hand the hard work and dedication it takes to run a business. That being said, all the money invested, hard work and dedication mean absolutely nothing if you don't find yourself some good employees. Finding those employees can seem impossible at times. I say that because this place has amazing attentive and super nice employees. A young lady, Megan sat down to tell me how good the food is. She explained how the husband and wife went "all in" after being laid off due to the pandemic. She took the time to explain how the owner smokes all the himself and how his wife came up with all the recipes for the sides. Megan and I had a great conversation. This, at a time where employees are inattentive and on their cell phones. It was refreshing. It also helped that I was eating a late 3pm lunch so no lunch crowd! The owners are doing something right when you have such a happy group of employees. Along with Megan there was a young man helping take care of me and 2 sweet ladies in the kitchen. So what about the food? Well it was great. I like a tangy potato salad and this was just right. If I could change one thing is I like chopped boiled eggs in mine but again this was the best second only to my wife's! The moist cut of brisket was absolutely delicious! A little thicker slice than most places and just right. Some people smoke their meat too long and the meat comes out too tender for my taste. I like my brisket to have a little chew to it amd not just fall apart. The ribs were also the best I have had. I am little different. I don't think great ribs should have the meat "fall off the bones". You need to have a nice chew to it also. Hard to explain but I just like to pull my rib meat off the bones. Both the brisket and ribs were very tender but not too much. Great job by the owners and great job job by the employees. If you have a chance to stop by I highly recommend this place which is...
Read more(Next to wingstop) Approaching this establishment, my GPS led me in circles around the parking lot until i found it. Upon approaching the front counter to place an order to go, i was welcomed by an employee who gave me a menu and also a take-home menu for my friends. As i went over the menu another employee who could have been the pitmaster asked if he could help, which he did and i ended up getting the "little joe" which is 1/4 lbs of 2 meats plus a side. I also got a homemade jalapeno cheese sausage. . The food has a great smoke flavor, smoke rings on your brisket, moist Turkey breast that dissolves in your mouth easily, the sausage was better than other places i been to with real cheese inside and again the flavor is thru the roof! My side was mac n cheese and OMG it was the perfect amount of creaminess, delicious, warm, and cheesy. My meal also came with mild barb que sauce, crispy crinkle cut pickles, crispy sliced jalapenos and the 3 toast was toasted perfectly. Everything came together nicely with alot of flavor in every single bite. If i had to say that only 1 thing was off is that i didnt recieve any utensils/plastic ware in my bag to eat when i got back to work. I will be returning soon sometime and ill try something new again. Thank you !! 7.24.25 Came in again, had the spud with brisket and fixings and a side of bbq borracho beans. Potato was a good size and it was very filling. I couldnt help but think there was somethin missing.. in my opinion maybe actual shredded cheese would have been what i was looking for even tho the cheese sauce added to it was great! Brisket was on point! As for the beans i wasnt a fan of. Great flavor in the beans but just not for me. It resembled a taste of ranch red beans mixed with pico. Not so much the "borracho" side. Food was still good. Will have to come and try something...
Read moreI’ll start with this, you should not read my review. You should get in your car and get to Strouderosa’s immediately! The rest of my review will be talking about how absolutely amazing their food is. This place is truly a gem.
For starters, I have 100s of hours smoking meats on a pellet smoker. And even with a pellet smoker, getting your brisket to turn out exactly the same each smoke is a challenge. And most high end BBQ restaurants struggle with it too. Even at the big name spots in Dallas I have had both great and not so great experiences with. This is where Strouderosa is changing my mind on BBQ restaurants. Every. Single. Visit.. that brisket is the same! At the production scale they are working at, that’s insane to me!! And the value, they are cheap for how good that brisket is.
The sausage is the best I have had in DFW. On my 3rd or 4th visit in I finally asked, where they get it from. They have it custom made locally! That’s why it’s so damn good!
Pulled pork: okay, so this is the second most challenging meat to find done well consistently in DFW. So most pulled pork (without it being soaked sauce) is really dry. Absolutely not the case, so moist and juicy!
The turkey has the perfect amount of smoke without having too much smoke flavor. We literally order a little of every meat, every time!
Okay, now with all this amazing meat, I thought there is no way this place would have sides even worth ordering. Wrong, mac and cheese is so fresh tasting, green bean out of this world, and the BBQ Borracho Beans are by far the best beans I have ever had! Everything is made fresh and from scratch.
Even the pickled onions, and pickle that come on the tray seem like they are home made.
If you made it this far, I hope I convinced you to go try it out, this is my new...
