This place was an oasis in a desert. The final punctuation mark in a novel. We just went out to California for a USMC Retirement ceremony and on our return, we had the pleasure to fly through Love Field. Upon landing, being a native Texan who lives in Maryland now, I checked to see if there was a Whataburger. Sure enough, there it was. Now this was the first time my wife has accompanied me to Texas in any capacity in our eight year relationship, so I was almost afraid of hyping it up too much. Luckily, God graces us with the most amazing staff to masterfully craft this fast-food cornucopia. I had the double Whataburger with Bacon and cheese, my wife ordered a Whataburger jr. with bacon and cheese. Additionally we had the Whatachick’n with ranch, fries and a strawberry shake. Good Lord in Heaven! I haven’t had a Whataburger in ten years! Needless to say, there was nothing left but the wrapper and my wife even commented something to the effect of now she understands why there’s such debate between Whataburger and In-N-Out. Those are some high remarks from her because she loves busting my balls so much. Y’all really outdid...

Don’t expect to get your order right at this location. I fly through love field rather often and stop by this location just about every time I’m there. I get what I order around 60% of the time, which isn’t great especially considering that by the time I get around to unwrapping my food, it’s too late to go back and get it corrected. Several other people I know have experienced the same thing and it’s just unacceptable in an airport location where people aren’t likely to have time to bring their order back to get it fixed. When you do get your order right, the food is okay. It is certainly better at standalone whataburger locations but this one is adequate. The workers I have seen there are a mixed bag. Some can be just outright rude and it is very obvious that they don’t want to be there serving you. Compared to the other food options at the airport I think this whataburger is the worst for customer service. Overall if you really need a fast food burger go ahead and give this place a try, but make sure they get your order right before you board...

I'd like to say that I flew to Texas just for Whataburger, but my flights got rerouted through Texas instead. At least it allowed me to try out Whataburger instead. Honestly, not all that impressed. The line was pretty long, but it was moving at least. Having a line is a good thing. I ordered #1 (Single Whataburger) with cheese & a Spicy Chicken sandwich just to try em out because I heard good things about em. I also got honey mustard & jalapeño ranch sauce as well. They forgot my honey mustard sauce so I got to go back for that with no issues. The honey mustard one was pretty good with a right amount of tang and sweetness needed. Jalapeño one, not worth writing about. Honestly, I thought I was expecting to get hot (temperature) food, but I was mistaken. The chicken sandwich had nice spice, but nothing special. The burger was decent, but average, with too much mustard. This sandwich was also lukewarm if best. No milkshakes unfortunately. What is this, McDonald's?

Maybe the standalone...

Finally, I decided to test the hype. Whataburger has been on my list for quite some time, granted I have tried it once before, but I could not rate it because it was reheated and horrible. I will say the burger is OK, I can't say it's anything special. Nothing stands out, and even the spicy ketchup wasn't what I had hoped. The onion rings were great, and the Diet Coke was refreshing. I only bring up the Coke because you can tell when a place crosses the lines or does not clean them. You get a certain after taste or too much carbonation. This was just right. The service was great. As busy as it was, everyone had a smile. I rated the atmosphere a little low because it's in an airport, and I had to hunt for a seat. Overall, I'd have it again, but it is not worth traveling for nor long waits. It's a very average burger.
