Horrible, I'm so sorry to give a bad review on a black owned business because I am a black women, but truth is truth. I used to go to this place as a teen and it has always been very good. So I decided to bring my husband he is from Nigeria so I was excited to show him my roots. Good food, black people and we get there the cooks are sitting in the car smoking. I ordered my food and came back outside to wait and the cook came out to smoke multiple times and I am wondering does she wash her hands this many times. Another worker came our with her but I don't know her position there, the cashier told me 15 minutes, so when I come back inside in 14 minutes my food was sitting on the counter and it was hot at all the bread had been put on the grill but it wasn't toasted it was just dirty greasy cold bread. It was like 2pm and we didn't eat breakfast so we were starving is why I chose the huge burgers. My fries tasted like the grease had been frying since this time last week. I quickly returned those, the girl offered me an alternate some chips which I thought was very good customer service, so I chose the type of chips I would like to eat with a burger which is potato chips and I leave. Get in the car and started my meal but into a cold burger that wasn't seasoned at all none. The only good thing about the burger was the cheese and purple onions oan and the bread was fresh too. I was so ashamed because me and my husband challenge each other cultures and I lost that battle. Needless to say I tossed the burger my husband tossed his too, and we just continued about our day and cooked when we got home. Wingfield burger, I couldn't believe it I was also surprised they still were in that same old building with no revisions. I'm not proud if this at all u wish I could just directly give this as a letter to the owner and not post this at all. Black owned businesses we have to do better, invest. This is how they...
Read moreThis rating will be given faster than the time I had to wait for the burger, the 1 burger. It's a long story and context is needed for this visit.
I decide to leisurely leave work early, to try one of my many saved want to go places, 20 minute drive so that wasn't so bad. I'm quick to order once inside the small lot, 1 bacon double cheeseburger (extra cheese). They say 20 minutes so I say no problem and head back to my car.
That was the beginning of the end. After the first 10 minutes of waiting, a small yet big argument amongst coworkers evolves from inside the building to outside the side door. At this point I realize I'm gonna have to give them extra time to make this one burger.
Mayhem is in the air for the next 10 minutes, no burger in sight of course. (those 10 minutes was not entertaining enough for all the time I wasted here). Then I wait another 10 minutes. My journey began hour hour ago and continues. I see everyone else that ordered around my time start getting there orders and finally after another 10 minutes I say I'm done and walk inside.
After 5 minutes inside I get my bag and leave. I find somewhere close to park and find that there's no fries and no bacon on the burger.
Obviously a brawl between coworkers doesn't happen every day but for my visit it did, and it ruined everything. I wouldn't have minded the wait if this burger was good but man it's some mid. I haven't been this upset over food in a while but man what a waste.
When people sing the praises of this place, I will be there to knock it down a peg. Maybe I'll return one day but losing 1 new costumer shouldn't and won't hurt them in the long run. Heavy disappointment as I really wanted to like this spot, I love goin to small business but man I literally could have gone to any other of my spots I usually go to and gotten my order and been home in the time it took here.
I also gave the rest to my dog, he enjoyed it...
Read moreSo I heard about Wingfield's Breakfast & Burgers from a workmate of mine. I looked it up on Google and it definitely looked right up my alley. Since I had some time to kill and the extra gas, I decided to make the drive from Plano to Illinois Ave. In Dallas. This unassuming restaurant is smaller than my over-priced apartment and at 11:15 AM is already filled with more staff than a Wal-Mart.
I was greeted by a young woman who said that they wouldn't be able to let us in the door but that they'd fill the order either way. By the time 11:30 rolls around the small parking lot designated for this store is overfilled with people who called in orders. (I wasn't smart enough to even find out if this was a possibility.) I got just a burger because I also wasn't smart enough to look for a menu before going down there.
Sandwich in tow I eloped to the destination for the day and once I arrived I immediately unwrapped my prize. Now THIS is a burger. Nay, this is two pieces of bread doing everything they can to contain. What I can only assume is a full pound and a half to two pounds of meat. Not only was this one of the largest burgers I had ever purchased, but it tasted amazing. The beef was well-seasoned and juicy. It came with everything on it which included red onions, which are always a big winner for me.
At eight dollars, this is not the biggest burger I have purchased nor the most expensive. But it is, by far, the most cost effective. If Wingfields were closer to my home, I would insist on eating there every weekend. 5/5.
