Came here for the first time tonight after months of consideration, and was sadly disappointed. The two stars are for the friendliness of the staff and the salad that came with the meals, which was very tasty. The ambiance was nice, but so dark we had to use flashlights to read the menus. The "garlic" rolls that arrived with our drinks didn't have any garlic on them; it was just bread. Our server, who was very nice and friendly, didn't seem familiar at all with what kind of pastas they served. We asked for angel hair pasta with both our entrees. That was the last we saw her for 15 minutes, no checking on us, no drink refills.
When the food arrived, it was clearly regular spaghetti, not angel hair. We asked if this was what they considered to be angel hair, and she insisted that it was. Oh well, no big deal. Had to ask for drink refills at that point, cause they were not offered despite our empty glasses.
We started eating, and after cutting into my chicken parmigiana, I realized that it wasn't breaded at all. Under a thick layer of cheese, it was just white, unseasoned chicken breast. Very little flavor, and the texture was tough. When our waitress came back to the table, she said they were out of iced tea, and so she brought me a water instead. I feel like since this was a drink I paid for, she should have offered to bring me a different paid drink instead. I asked her if the chicken was meant to not be breaded, and she said oh yes, because they didn't have a fryer. She said their other location had a fryer, and listed all the items that location carries that are deep fried. Which is nice for them, I guess, but doesn't help me with my plain boiled chicken parmigiana problem. The menu made no mention of the fact that their chicken parm, which is by definition fried, is not fried.
My dad's eggplant parm had a different problem: it was so mushy, it almost seemed pureed. It was like eating eggplant-flavored baby food. Overall, it was a pretty poor meal, and the service, while friendly, could have been a LOT more attentive. Sadly I don't think...
Read moreSo many good reviews. Why? The waitress was ok. Now for the bad. We assumed with prices and much as O G, and in close proximity to that competition, and the glowing reviews, it must be a little treasure. Not so.
It reeked of fabuloso. The free bread was fresh, but tasteless. Well nothing good tasting. Plain. I even poured a little olive oil on a dish with pepper to try to flavor it, but even the oil tasted cheap and crappy. I ordered an add on ceased salad and got a tossed salad with ceaser dressing in the little side cup. The lettuce appeared to come right out of a bowl of water, with no drying. Super wet, just watered everything down. My dates garden salad was the same. For the main dish, I ordered fettuccini Alfredo with chicken (I asked for breaded chicken, but not an option). The pasta was fine. The chicken looked like it was microwaved. The chicken texture was fine, but flavor and look were both flavorless. And finally the sauce. I've had better sauce from a jar. There was no garlic, no tastable spice, nothing. My date got the trio. They description was "undercooked spinach and cheeses mixed in a fashion that tasted like spoiled milk". It may be the first meal I've ever seen her not finish. Also, it was drowned in marinara. Not enough pasta ratio. Finally, dessert. My date ordered strawberry cheesecake, expecting to get something the size in the display case, but instead, it was like an inch and a half at the wide end. Twice that, or more in the case. And, she only ate two bites saying she could only taste fabuloso.
The tea was good. There is no sweet tea.
3 terrible dishes and 50$ later, I would highly recommend against this place. I never write reviews, but didn't want anyone to waste their money.
I will say, this place was packed. I can only assume it was because they lived close and brought in a bottle of their own wine.
Please buy some garlic, red onions, and spices. Some people have eaten real Italian food.
Sorry for...
Read moreThe waitress was great. Very beautiful if I can say that. Unfortunately I forgot her name. I was having dinner with my good friend. We were both visiting for the first time. I wish I would have taken pictures of my food but I was really hungry, so no pics from me. I got the chicken piccata with the side salad and house dressing. The chicken piccata was great. I don't know if they allow substitution of pastas but it comes with that tube pasta that is called ziti. I think the dish would have been better with angel hair or spaghetti. Considering how thin the sauce was( which is perfect for my liking). But everything was great tasting. We also got the Mozzarella Caprice, very good. I would say I wish it had a little bit more basal but other than that it was well done. I think my friend got the chicken florentine and he thought it was okay. But he's very picky. Overall we both enjoyed our dining experience at the restaurant. I will definitely try to go back. Inside the actual restaurant itself is nice and old school cozy. You different feel like you're eating at a relative's house. I don't know how to describe it other than it was a little bit dark but live just enough. I definitely felt very comfortable and not distracted by seeing things outside or anything like that. I find it just a little bit difficult given at 5. Ours but if I could I would give it 4.5 stars. So I will not punish the place and give it 4 stars but know that I would give...
