Keith’s Chicken N Waffles — Restaurant in Daly City

A little bit of a frustrating experience here. Apple Maps showed there was one of these in San Bruno, nearly on my way home. Go there, park, walk up — it’s closed, completely torn down. Don’t know if they’re establishing shop there or closing that location but it was a waste of my time. I’m in it to win now, so I drive to the Daly City location. Very hole-in-the-wall. Soda machine doesn’t work, door doesn’t close all the way, none of the TV’s they have are on. The whole place seems to not match the quality of the website they have. I place my order with a latina, she says it will be 15 minutes — understandable. The price for a plate was $18, so for two $36… my bill was $50 and I have no clue how it got there, no add ons by me. They made the order within the time, provided a bag, and I was off. When I got home, everything was still hot. The waffles themselves are as advertised and so is the chicken. The tenders were a little tough, though. The sides of yam and mac were obviously made beforehand and just heated up. Seeing that there was only me in there when I ordered, it makes sense. Such a hidden gem!! I've been living in Daly City for about 5 years now and just stumbled upon this place while driving from Colma Bart. It's definitely one of those small hole-in-the-wall type of place so I looked them up on Yelp and sure enough they begin to take orders at 11:30am - not a minute before. I'm a 5 minute drive away and it took them about 15 minutes for my food to be ready by the time I found parking - which was SO nice because I was super hungry. I ordered the "Leg and thigh meal" which comes with 1 Belgian waffle and a side. I also added cornbread and collard greens to my order because what's southern comfort food without these

I drove about another 10 minutes to Thornton Beach Vista which was absolute torture because the food smelt so good. By the time I bit into the chicken, it was everything I imagined - crispy with tender meat on the inside. And when the chicken is eaten with the waffles, oh my god!! The perfect combination of savory and sweet. I could taste a lot of spices in the waffle batter but cinnamon was definitely prominent.

We ordered a red velvet and a classic waffle and chicken and all the sides. LET ME TELL YOU!!! This food took my attitude away. The red velvet, I swear I'm gonna dream about it. The waffles had almost a cake like texture but also waffle like if that makes sense. It was amazing. The chicken? Juicy and i mean juicy like you bite and you see the juices oozing, crispy skin, the best seasonings. The sides?Omg. The greens were tender, smokey and so savory. The red beans and rice were so yummy and cooked to perfection. The Mac and cheese was creamy and cheesy and yummy and the candied yams were so sweet and amazing it felt like a dessert and side in one. That man cut no corners in making his dishes. It was amazing and this food was 20/10 better than A LOT of the bougie spots I've been to. That food made me appreciate life. And I've been a happy woman since.
