VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!! Saturday, June 16, 2018, around 3pm-5pm, I was in town for a one day visit with my family, I expected good quality food, nice and friendly service, and a clean environment to eat at and enjoy my time with my family. Unfortunately, my family and I didn’t meet any of that. This rant is not about me being maarte, but simply putting it out there about how horrible their food was and how poorly their service was.
My family and I ordered: chicaron, bola-bola siopao, pork siomai, beef mami, combo noodle soup with beef stew and meatball, combination porridge, crispy pata, sisig pork, calamari, two item combo meal with tocino; longganisa; and over easy eggs, two coconut water, one bottled water, and two iced water. 1.) the bola-bola, its bread and meat ratio, was more bread than the meat. This wasn’t the issue here. Just my opinion. I might as well bring it up. 2.) pork siomai was warm, not hot. This is a food danger zone! 3.) we didn’t get the combination porridge. This was a bummer, because this is what I really came for. 4.) sisig pork, was not on a sizzling plate, but that didn’t matter. What matter was that it was just dried pork meat, no crispy skin or grilled. The meat was just tossed in sigsig sauce/seasoning and placed in a bowl. The meat was dry and again not hot, just warm. Again, this is a food danger zone! 5.) the calamari was OVERCOOKED. The calamari was hard and too chewy to chew. 6.) the crispy pata was OVERCOOKED, DRY, and HARD too chewy just like the calamari! 7.) we NEVER got our bottled water and 2 iced water. 8.) the two item combo meal with tocino, longganisa, and 2 eggs came with garlic fried rice. We ordered over easy eggs. The garlic rice was not warm, but at ROOM TEMPERATURE! AGAIN, FOOD DANGER ZONE!
I called for the waiter. She stopped halfway through the room and asked what we needed. She was very unapproachable from the very beginning of when we had arrived there. Instead of addressing us at our table, she addressed us from far away, as if she didn’t want to come to us. She finally came and asked us what we needed. My sister and I told her that our food was cold. Instead of fixing the problem, she decided to microwave the food, causing the over easy eggs to be over medium - over hard eggs. We return most of the food back. We returned the calamari, crispy pata, sisig, and the two item combo. And paid for the rest. As she was taking it back and handing it back to the cook, she was just loud, rude, and obnoxious about our complaint. Then she tells us that we should not order so much food next time. Ordering so much food wasn’t the issue! The issue was that most of the temperature of the food they served us were at food danger zone. That is a health department violation, because we could’ve gotten sick! Aside from that, they were OVERCOOKED and dried out, and on top of it, their service sucked! I was even planning on buying a bunch of their Starbread and Hopia to take back to Vegas, but by the quality of their food and most especially their rude, obnoxious, unapproachable, and unfriendly service, my sister convinced me not to buy any of it anymore. Wish I was able to take a picture of their food, but I wasn’t in the mood of taking a picture of their food, because I was already too upset! On top of that, the table we sat at was filthy! It didn’t look like it, but you can feel the dust and grease had collected over the years. I wiped my napkin on the table and it was black! As if I had wiped my napkin on a dusty car. My family and I ended up going next door to Toppings and ate there. Toppings’ food was amazing! They’re edible, not OVERCOOKED, not dried out. They were moist, seasoned well, and the food came out hot. Their restaurant was clean and organized. Most importantly, all the staff were very friendly and approachable. They came and attended to us and check on us to see if we were okay and if we needed anything. Wish we just went to their place first instead of wasting our money at Ling Nam! I just read other people’s reviews on FB, I will definitely not be...
Read moreI used to come here regularly to buy BBQ beef with rice, due to enjoying the quality of the food at this relatively small business. However one random day I showed up with a friend to enjoy a meal; we ordered our food, paid up front as is required at this location to be served and waited for our order to come out. We got our food, ate inside; finished eating and got up cleaning up our mess. As we were thanking the staff for our meal and getting ready to leave, one of the women behind the counter told us openly in front of others eating in the restaurant that "uh excuse me, you still have to pay for your meal". We obviously got caught off guard and told them "we paid you cash up front when we ordered to the girl working the register". The woman in response said "oh I didn't see you pay anyone, so you can't leave until you make the payment". At which point my friend and I got obviously upset with this manner of behavior and demanded the girl working the register come out front to confirm we paid. After a bit of bickering, the girl did finally come out and confirmed we paid in cash before getting our food. The woman then awkwardly looked at her in a demeaning manner and simply said "oh okay then, you've paid thank you" dismissing us to leave. We openly asked if this way because we were the only non-Asian patrons in the restaurant eating, to which the woman awkwardly panicked saying "oh no no, it's nothing like that".
Worst service ever, completely unprofessional; race oriented favoritism. I completely understand people make mistakes and should be verified with all staff if something wasn't paid for BEFORE approaching asking such questions; secondly you should approach in a quiet manner, not publicly humiliating anyone. Don't eat here,...
Read moreIn the most Filipino dense city in America you can’t throw a rock without hitting a Filipino restaurant, ok maybe the radius is more like drive a golf ball. When I’m in Daly City and it’s latenight/early morning coming from the club or bar and you want something that’s comforting and will help the impending hangover or DUI, I come to Ling Nam’s.
All Day Filipino breakfast on the cheap. GRF(garlic fried rice), eggs and a variety of fried meats, fishes, sausages at your offering. On a side note late night may still feel like the club or bar because the same Filipino’s your saw out are thinking the same thing so it’s a bit of a late night reunion.
The rice is hit or miss between slightly old and pungent/fresh. The eggs are usually like 10-15 seconds overcooked, but still runny when you order then that way. Grease everywhere though, food tables, floors. You will smell like Ling Nams just by walking in, ordering, walking out to wait, coming back in to pick up and leave. And not in that KBBQ body spray sort of way either.
Longsilog (sweet breakfast sausage), bangsilog (milkfish), sisig silog (chopped/fried pig), spam, corned beef, along with a dozen other breakfasts you can’t go wrong with.
Service is pretty horrible, price is affordable, décor is basic (remember that grease though). I’m rating/reviewing this for everyone else, but despite the starts I’m still gonna come here, maybe when I’m 40 I’ll make the move over to Lucky Chances Casino for the late night Filipino breakfast, but until then this is my go to late night eats (oh and Jack in the Box, like you’ve never been...
