I never go out of my way to write reviews, especially because I find that most restaurants I try are mediocre and not worth reviewing. However, Spicy House far exceeded my expectations and I felt compelled to write a review after my delicious meal there.
We ordered the dry hot chicken wings, spicy cabbage, and Szechuan Hot Spicy Fish. All three dishes were incredibly flavorful. The cabbage was the spiciest and I couldn’t handle it as well as the other dishes, but it was so good that I couldn’t stop eating it. The chicken wings had an amazing crisp to it, and the sauce was comparable to San Tung’s. The fish was so tender and soaked up a lot of the flavor of the soup that it came in (and the fillets were sizable too). All three dishes were perfect accompaniments to white rice. For three people, it was the perfect amount of food.
The servers there were all so nice, attentive, and friendly to everyone that came in. The place itself is very down to earth and I felt very at home and cared for. Will be adding this place to our rotation of restaurants...
Read moreEver since Little Hunan on Mission/Crocker went out of business, I've been looking for a new place to get HK style crispy noodles. Spicy House is decent. They have a good menu of Chinese dishes. This is the first time I've seen tempura $9 at a Chinese restaurant. The tempura was the prefabricated type and came with sweet and sour sauce. It would have been better if it came with tentsuyu sauce. As for the house special HK style crispy noodles $12, there are better places for this. This came with a confusing mixture of meats (beef, chicken and shrimp) and vegetables (bok choy, broccoli, carrots, minced garlic, zucchini.) What it needed was some sesame oil in the sauce, Chinese BBQ pork, mini scallops or squid. The noodles should have been slightly browned to bring out the wok flavor. Regardless, service was excellent. The waitresses are friendly.
This used to be Egg Roll King years ago. The lady cashier was always cool to me. My orders would be three egg rolls and their three dishes...
Read moreOverall, I have mixed feelings about this place. I'll start with the food quality and move toward restaurant experience. The beef kebobs taste really good and the price makes it worth the purchase. The braised beef noodle soup was below average, just a few pieces of edible meat and the bottom half of one piece of choy, not even the leaf, the noodles tasted precooked from earlier that day. The restaurant has about 10-12 tables. The way that restaurant is designed, they let food delivery drivers walk around the area where people are trying to eat dinner. Last night, there was only one woman that was managing all tables, to-go orders, and phone calls. I couldn't see the kitchen but my food took about 40 minutes to come out. Also, I placed a togo order after my meal and it was just the food. No napkins or chopstick. The woman was really nice, but it was just too much for one person to handle. I'm debating whether I will come back. Street...
