Stacks Pancake House — Restaurant in Dana Point

We really love Stacks. It is in Dana Point, right on HWY 1. Parking is easy and the place to easy to find. They only serve breakfast, brunch and lunch. The menu is great and they have food from everywhere. It seems to have a Hawaiian flare, but they also have a Korean dish.

You order at the counter and the line can be long, but it is not terrible. Once you have ordered have a seat inside or out and a nice server will bring you the food.

Their selection is very good. They have these macadamia nut pancakes which are amazing. This is the only place I have ever had them and I know they are popular there. Their French toast made with King's Hawaiian Sweet Bread is super tasty. Also try their Captain Nut Mac French Toast. I don't care for it. My grandson loves it. It has Captain Crunch cereal and macadamia nuts. He always orders this when we are in town.

For lunch we love their turkey avocado melt that is filled with turkey breast, swiss cheese and avocado on grilled parmesan sourdough. It come with a side of French fries, mixed green salad, macaroni salad, or fresh fruit. I love their fries so I always get that. The burgers are great and they make them the way you want.

The service is sort of slow, but very nice. They are friendly and know the menu.

The place is not huge, but it is very cute and comfortable.

I really thought about this before I posted..Here goes..The positive the food is really good!!The people seem really nice though I wasn't there for long.The place was clean..So here goes As a person with 32 years of experience in the food and beverage business..Is in the training it has to be..So we ordered 3 omelets vegetarian style with 2 ham 1 bacon added separately..Now we have 2 special need boys with dietary restrictions so I need it to be right the first time.Came home and 3rd vegetarian has no bacon I tore it apart looking for it so I call and let them know..This is where everything went totally unprofessional. She says to hold on she has to ask the cook..putting that person in an impossible situation where no one can win this cuz now I'm going to be basically called a liar which is totally inappropriate or they are because they are going to have to say they did add the bacon whether they did or didn't and now I'm totally insulted..bad move she should have handled herself..2nd 14 ketchup packets to a family who is not going to use any multiply times 40-50 customers a day ,week a year complete waste of money and inefficient in a time you are already losing so...

The venture here ended before it started. First there’s a giant line going through all the tables, which was not the worst thing seeing as it was a Sunday. We asked several people what the line was for and most people did not even know. We stood awkwardly between tightly placed tables with people attempting to enjoy their food with strangers butts in their faces. Finally we saw what we thought was a waiter, and to our surprise he said “we don’t have tables for people that ordered food and random people are sitting on the o lt seating for the restaurant and he can’t remove them”. Then followed with there’s people standing that ordered food and no tables. This place is priced like a nice diner but has the service of a cheap Mexican taco stand. It’s a walk up and order place, that hands you some busted, nasty red plastic thing for someone to run out your food…if you’re lucky enough to even get a table. On top of that the area is shared with a Mexican restaurant next door. Terrible atmosphere , it’s cramped and you will get 0 eating space.
