This was my third and last time I will ever go here. Each time I've gone was at lunch to get a poke bowl to-go. The guy behind the counter was the same every time. He is unpleasant and seems annoyed. (Despite his attitude I believe in 'kill em' with kindness.') The last time I was there was a year ago. (Price increase from about $14 to $19) and I was able to pick my items, as the sign indicates. This time the guy just started putting items into the bowl without asking what I wanted. If I'm paying $20 for a poke bowl, I would appreciate being asked. I was able to stop him when I realized and specify my last couple items. But when I requested a sauce he pointed to a sign that it would be an extra $2 because he had already put a sauce in there. Just a disappointing experience every time. I'd much rather give my business to the Poke House on Federal Road in Danbury. The customer service is totally opposite, very kind and...
Read moreWe’ve eaten here twice already and really loved the different entrees. Beautifully arranged and served poke bowls with very fresh and delicious fish and avocado pieces. The tuna salmon poke combo is great.
We also like Korean food and have had the Soon Dobu (Hot Silk tofu soup) with seafood, the Jang Jigae (Vegetable Korean Miso and Tofu) soup and Bibimbap.
For a long time, Edo II (which is just a stones throw away) was pretty much the only option for good Korean food in the area without going down to Westchester/White Plains/Scarsdale for SGD. And although Edo is delicious as well, they’re pricier, the place is smaller, and sometimes the music is downright depressing (personal opinion).
Meanwhile Maroo has struck a good balance on price, has a bit more upbeat music playing (thank you) and the couple that runs it are just the sweetest people....
Read moreFor months, I regularly took my lunch break here. I ate alone while reading a book and never said anything but "hello" or "thank you." Unfortunately, the woman serving food has been visibly, openly hostile toward me multiple times for reasons I don't understand, deliberately ignoring me when I speak, glaring at me, putting dishes down on the table with unnecessary force, and generally behaving with barely repressed aggression. Other times, she's had loud, angry sounding conversations with the chef immediately before or after serving me. She might as well point! All I wanted was a quiet space to eat in peace. I'm not sure what I did to deserve this rudeness, and I'm sure other customers have had better experiences, but I won't be returning to Maroo. I recommend getting takeout or choosing...
