We eat here about once a month, and the food is always fabulous. The father is in the kitchen cooking, and his sons are in the dining room serving. The sons are always very welcoming, helpful, and entertaining. We were there last Saturday for another great meal. I told Nori, I want to take my time and relax between courses, he said of course, no problem. We started with drinks from the bar. I ordered a Double Angels Envy bourbon, and Sue had a slightly dirty martini. The drinks were great pours. For an appetizer we both had the Cacio e Pepe, prepared table side. Nori always does a great job making the pasta, and it is very entertaining to watch him. Wow, so much flavor it just jumps off the fork. I think this is their best appetizer. We then moved to salad, which they also made a fresh Caesar salad table side. The fresh ingredients made right there, provides flavors which were amazing. I had some extra Anchovies on the side, Sue was happy with hers just as it was.
For Dinner, I had the King Filet Mignon, which was like 13 ounces. Flavorful and tender. You didn’t even need a knife to cut it. I usually order a ribeye when I go out, but this steak always has more flavor than a ribeye, and cooked just how I asked, medium rare. This was a better steak than I have had a great steakhouse. Sue had the Chicken Scarpariello, which was spicy, tender, and flavorful. Another good choice. On other occasions I have had the twin Pork Chops (not sure if that was a special), and Veal Chop. Again, excellent. This time, we didn’t have desserts as we were too full, but other times we have had their desserts, and they are delicious.
I would highly recommend this restaurant. Parking isn’t the easiest, but we have never had a problem and it is...
Read moreMy friend, who now lives in Danbury, and I ate dinner at Castello recently and it did not disappoint! We were greeted upon entering and shown to our table right away. The restaurant has a well-stocked bar, great vibe and very personable staff. We started with a perfectly-prepared martini. It was ice cold, prepared as we asked and a very good size. We chose the burrata appetizer special and the cacio e pepe, which is made tableside. FYI, it can be made as an appetizer or main course! We opted for it as a main course. The young man who prepared the pasta did an outstanding job and the fact that it is made tableside and placed in front of you as soon as it is done, keeps it hot and cheesy. And to see it made was fun! We enjoyed it tremendously. We did not choose to add the truffle oil drizzle as truffle oil, in my own opinion, would have taken away from the delicious flavor of the cheese. We did try dessert even though we are not dessert people. I preferred the tartufo over the apple struedel, but the struedel was also good. The coffee was delicious as well. This is a great place for families or for a date night. There is plenty of parking. All of the staff were friendly and knew their menus for questions about how items were prepared. I highly recommend this restaurant for their food, ambiance, vibe and great staff. This was our first time, but definitely not the last! Thank you Castello for a...
Read moreMy wife and I ate here to celebrate our anniversary. We were both very disappointed with our experience. Castello's attempts to resemble a fine dinning experience but lacks the attention to detail to pull it off. The place is very dark and needs more lighting. The appearance of the restaurant is dated and not in a way that makes it feel classy. They had the bus boys wearing a serving glove to pour drinks but also had damages on the walls that need repairs. The food was also very disappointing. The bread bowl was full of stale and chewy bread. We ordered fired calamari which tasted as though it was frozen and out of a bag. Which would have been one thing for a local pizzeria not a place charging $17.00. The Cesar salad was prepared tableside but was drenched in dressing and had too much pepper. It also was much smaller for the price that you would think, served on a small appetizer plate. we got shrimp scampi and chicken francese. The shrimp was over cooked and did not taste like fresh pasta. The chicken francese was $27.00 for two slices of chicken, three slices of potato, and 4 pieces of broccoli. See attached photos. The drinks are also served on very small glasses in an obvious attempt to save money.
Overpriced and an emphasis in all the...
