UPDATE: There's no surprise why this place only averages three and a half stars. It even appears to me that the ratings are "stacked" by friends of the restaurant after it receives a bad review, as suddenly several "5 star" reviews appear. One of the few things anyone ever mentions in their review is the chicken wings, which from my experience are the same as any chicken wings served everywhere else. Chicken wings Average 203 calories each, with 8.1 grams of fat! That means that just 5 wings equals about half of an adult male's entire recommended daily caloric intake, and almost two-thirds of an adult woman's daily recommended caloric intake! (Why am I hearing Queen singing "Fat Bottomed Girls"?). Fried chicken wings are also VERY high in cholesterol. I'd also venture that the reason the wings are typically the only thing mentioned in reviews is because it's almost impossible to screw them up and because the reviewers may feel the rest of the menu is not even worth mentioning. Additionally, one can prepare excellent wings at home, with an air-fryer and "Frank's Hot Sauce" for next to nothing! If you enjoy sticky table tops, tiny smelly bathrooms in dire need of remodeling, a dining area that doesn't appear to have been updated since the sixties, rude service, and a tiny outdoor seating area at a very busy intersection where the exhaust fumes and noise can be savored, this place may be for you. They also claim to have eleven beers on tap, when I've never seen more than six. They claim that there's thirty TV's, when it appears to me to be about half that. The server has also brought the credit card reader to my seat with the "28% tip" button already chosen without my consent. Be advised, however, that there are several similar bar / tavern type restaurants nearby that are nicely remodeled and spotlessly clean, with a much, much better & larger number of draught beer offerings!
It's funny how some servers get a really bad attitude over nothing, and end up losing a good customer for their restaurant. I've been coming to this location for 45 years while being operated by several different owners under different names. For the last two or three years I've been coming here 2 - 3 times a month. I always have at least two drinks (usually draught beer) and always order food, and always tip well. Sometimes my wife comes along, even though she doesn't like the place. I eat out a lot! A minimum of eight lunches and/or dinners a week. I frequently eat at places with draught beer offerings, obviously because I like draught beer, and I enjoy many different types, especially IPA's. There are literally HUNDREDS of different breweries in our area, and some local restaurants such as Maggie McFly's in Brookfield and Michaels Tap Room in Bethel/Stony Hill (which are both about a mile away from this place) literally have 30 to 40 different draught beers! Because of this, there's no way I can remember each beer's name that I like (or even where I had it), so I often ask for a taste to be sure it's one I like. No bartender has ever had any problem with this request. I recently asked the bartender here for a taste of an IPA they were offering by saying "I'm sorry I'm always asking for a taste", explaining that I can't keep up with the names of the ones that I like, and he responds by stating "I don't think you're sorry, you do it all the time". I, once again, explained and stated that I'm sorry, to which he displayed a really bad attitude and said, sarcastically, once again, "I don't think you're sorry, but I get it. Enjoy your sip". At this point, not only is he calling me a liar, but he's insinuating that I'm attempting to scam the bar out of two tablespoons of warm beer foam, and waste his time in the process. Note: I was sitting four feet from the taps. So, this kind of customer disrespect and insulting behavior is one of the few reasons I'll stop spending my money at a business, and I then recommend my followers do the same. There are better...
Read moreI take no joy in bashing a business but when you are regarded as one of the top wing places in the state I expect more than what I received. I recently moved in around the corner and being a self proclaimed wing/ steak and cheese enthusiast I was more than excited to finally eat here. My enthusiasm was immediately extinguished. The server I spoke with in the phone was borderline rude but I didn't let that ruin my expectations because I know everyone has bad days or maybe she was just really busy..... Not the case. I get there within the time frame I was told and my food was ready! Things are looking good, right? No. s I was handed browned veggies and warm blue cheese from a bag kept next to the register I hurry back to my vehicle hoping to try something amazing...... Once again not the case. I was so excited I opened the wings (that were supposed to be spicy according to the menu) and was met with possibly the most dried out pieces of chicken with sauce that was so UN spicy an infant could handle the "heat" . I then semi defeatedly drive around the corner to my home hoping the steak and cheese with fries could make up for the lack luster pieces of aged chicken I payed for. Once again beyond disappointed. Overly salted steakums with a slice of cheese in top..... I asked for mayonnaise which was nowhere in sight, the fries were soggy and the bread was stale. Now I work in the restaurant industry and I promise that I take absolutely no pride in bashing ANY establishment but this was disgraceful. Id like to think this was just an off night but I don't see how such a highly accredited establishment could let things get this low on even the roughest of nights. ( Which I should add it was not busy at all!!) I know missing out on my business won't effect you at all but you shouldn't serve any customer the "things" you served me tonight. Thank you very much for ruining my dinner tonight. Please do better for...
Read moreThis used to be my go-to wing spot back in my college days when i went to school in Danbury. I am now well into my career and wanted to get some wings for old time sake. I went with a few of my cousins and we were utterly disappointed. The wings were not crispy and seemed undercooked, we took them home and put them in the air fryer, we didn’t make a big deal of it because this was the first time the wings were ever underwhelming. I am giving it a bad review due to the behavior of the waitress we had. Her name is Heather A.. towards the end of our meal we all paid our bills separately with our cards and planned to give her a cash tip. 3/4 had paid, 1 tipped on her card and the others were going to tip in cash as there is an ATM in the restaurant. I was in the middle of paying with my card, Before I finished paying the waitress came back to us and said “Is there a problem? since I see there’s no tips” we told her there wasn’t a problem and she stormed off upset. We walked towards the front door and she must have told the people at the bar that we weren’t tipping her and someone screamed “no tip huh?!” at us, after that we decided not to give her the cash tip we had in hand. I don’t understand why she treated us the way she did when we weren’t even done paying the tab yet....
