Tuscanero's Pizza — Restaurant in Danbury

I’m hesitating to write a “negative” review here, but I simply didn’t enjoy the food that I ordered.

I decided to stop in for the first time today while walking the plaza. I could smell the fresh baked pizza from a few stores away and knew I had to go in.

The environment is lovely with a lot of seating and the cashier behind the counter was super pleasant. None of the pizza looked overly appetizing, so I opted for a “Chicken Parm Roll” which I knew would either be a “hit” or a “miss.” Unfortunately, it was a “miss.”

The “Chicken Parm Roll” was a great size and the prices are wonderful. To me, I had the biggest issue with the texture of the roll. The breaded chicken was good, but there wasn’t enough sauce or cheese to balance out the dough and the breading. The dough was soft and pillowy and the sauce of the side helped, but I felt there was too much dough and not enough of the contents. I really couldn’t even finish the roll.

Again, I don’t want to fault this pizzeria entirely as I probably just made a mistake in terms what I ordered. I’m looking to go back again in the future and try the pizza out. Hopefully, I’ll get a better bit and will be able to adjust my review...

Gluten Free Pizza!! Yummy! I recently developed a gluten intolerance, go figure. And it’s so hard trying to learn what you can and can’t have. Gluten is in almost everything. One night I ordered a cheese pizza from my local restaurant, ate 4 slices, and let me tell you, I was in so much pain for the rest of the night. At this point, hadn’t figured out that gluten was my issue. The very next day I was at thirillz down the road with my kids. We went over to tuscaneros for lunch afterwards. I was bummed out because I was starving and everything on the menu is gluten. Well, I spoke with this very nice gentleman behind the counter, I wish I got his name to put in this review, and he was so helpful. He told me the had gluten free pasta and pizza. So I ordered a cheese pizza. First gluten free pizza for me and let me tell you, it was delicious. It was a personal size one, I ate the whole thing, and I had no pain in my stomach after I ate it. It was amazing to be able to eat something and not have the massive bloating and pressure that builds up in your stomach to go with it. I would have never expected it to taste that good. Very happy with our food and service. We ended our full day of driving in Danbury and checked in to our hotel and then went looking for a nearby place to get a bite for dinner. We had the baked ziti and a slice of cheese pizza and both were excellent. The ziti came with a side salad and bread and this, too, was delicious. The pizza had an amazing crust and there was no oil or grease like you often get at other places. Just a great slice of pizza. The folks on duty were friendly, courteous, very attentive, and spot on.
