If youโre searching for that perfect blend of Irish charm, cold pints, hearty eats, and the kind of welcoming vibe that makes you feel like a regular on your first visit, look no further than Shenanigans in Fort Lauderdale. This neighborhood staple isnโt just another Irish-style barโitโs a community hub, sports haven, and foodie favorite all rolled into one.
Shenanigans strikes the ideal balance between laid-back comfort and high-energy fun. The dรฉcor hits all the right Irish pub notes: dark wood, cozy booths, plenty of Guinness branding, and a friendly buzz of conversation that fills the room without overpowering it. Whether youโre stopping in for a casual weekday pint or catching a weekend game, thereโs always a welcoming crowd, often made up of locals whoโve been loyal patrons for years.
Donโt let the โbarโ label fool youโShenanigans serves up seriously good food. The menu is classic pub fare with a twist: think juicy burgers, perfectly crisp wings, loaded Irish nachos, and even a few unexpected hits like the blackened mahi sandwich or shepherdโs pie. Their wings, in particular, have a cult followingโand with good reason. Flavorful, meaty, and cooked just right. (Trust me, order them the way Lawrence tells you to!)
Drink-wise, Shenanigans boasts a solid draft list with all the Irish must-haves, plus a rotating selection of craft brews and domestic favorites. The bar staff knows how to pour a proper pint, and the cocktails are generously poured and reasonably priced.
Hereโs where Shenanigans really shines: the service. And much of that credit goes to their General Manager, Lawrence, whose presence is as impactful as it is reassuring. Lawrence is the kind of manager who doesnโt hide in the backโheโs out on the floor, greeting guests, checking on meals, ensuring everyoneโs having a great time. He knows his regulars by name and makes newcomers feel like old friends. His leadership sets the tone for the rest of the staffโprofessional, upbeat, and genuinely friendly.
Shenanigans stays lively year-round with live music nights, karaoke, trivia, and major sports events. Whether youโre into March Madness, UFC fights, or just a casual night out with good company, thereโs something always going on. They also host themed nights and seasonal parties that locals look forward to each year.
In a city full of flashy spots and fleeting trends, Shenanigans stands out as a timeless favoriteโa place where the beer is cold, the food is consistently great, and the hospitality is second to none. Whether youโre a local or just passing through Fort Lauderdale, Shenanigans is worth the stop.
Big shoutout to Lawrence and the crew for keeping the spirit alive and thriving. Itโs not just a barโitโs an experience, and one youโll want to come back to...
ย ย ย Read moreStopped into this place because it had a drive thru. Not a tourist spot really, more like a local dive. Got the fish-and-chips. An expensive plate ($18) because found out they're using Mahi Mahi for the fish instead of Cod. Certain they could make this more affordable if they'd use the proper fish for such preparation. Mahi Mahi fried up like this ate more like meat. Fish did taste fresh and was a nice white, but it definitely was not the flaky texture you want to enjoy. It ripped apart more like chicken breast. Batter was burnt on the exterior and raw/doughy in the middle, indicating the grease was too hot while frying. This definitely had a strong greasy odor that filled up the car! The salsa-looking sauce is cocktail sauce. Not sure why it was so thick and pasty. It wasn't potent in flavor like you want from a cocktail sauce. It was probably old because this thickness reeks coagulation. Fries were basic, nothing special. I was told that they had various kinds of fries, and these were said to be "skinny like McDonald's fries" though clearly that's not true. Customer service was tolerant and straight-forward, no frills with an air of other pressing responsibilities. Outer packaging was very nice and drivethru thoughtful. Photo with all the fish stacked atop the fries is how they served it to me. All other photos are my arrangement to get a better-looking shot for this post. There was also a small container of coleslaw which screamed KFC in appearance and flavor....so there's that. A sign in the drivethru said to check everything before you pulled off because afterward they wouldn't be responsible. Might try something else from here but this menu item was over priced and not well planned. Would not recommend this place for other tourists. Also there is no menu board posted in the drive thru so the cost of everything is mysterious and is coming up different from prices posted on their online menus for the fish and chips dish. Was i...
ย ย ย Read moreTo start off on a great note- our server Jordan was absolutely amazing and sympathetic during this entire encounter. She deserves way more given the type of people she is working with, pray for her kind soul. We walked in around 6 pm and sat down. After being given our menus, the music was suddenly turned up to an obnoxious volume, enough to cause a headache from sitting in there. We politely asked our server to turn down the music as it was fine at the previous volume. She returned to our table and advised that the manager denied the request to lower the music. This is absolutely absurd and unacceptable, as we are paying customers in an establishment. We then had the pleasure of getting pounding headaches while waiting 45 MINUTES from the time we ordered to receive wings and a burgerโฆ.The food was good, aside from fries that come out completely overcooked. We asked if we could get a new side of fries and the server went to tell the kitchen. She returned to the table to let us know the kitchen was refusing to give us a new side of fries as they were โbusyโ and โoverwhelmedโ, Iโm sure I would be overwhelmed too if I had to work with a manager like that. We saw the manager behind the bar and decided we would say something on our way out. Upon getting up to leave from our table, we turned around and all of a sudden the manager is nowhere to be found. Absolutely disgusting and unacceptable behavior from someone who claims to be a โmanagerโ. I donโt know why anyone would ever want such a person running their establishment. In the past, we always chose to go to the location in Hollywood, such a shame it was closed and now the only option is this establishment run by an unqualified...
