We came with friends for a nice night out. For appetizers, we tried the bongo bongo and Chesapeake crab dips, and both were very good. Then, my husband and I each had a bowl of French onion soup. It was very light on onions and heavy on salt, but we ate it as it wasn't completely inedible. Three of us got smokehouse salads. Nice portion and presentation, but my friend's had almost no dressing, and mine was drowning in it. The homemade bacon bits would have been better if cooked just a little more, and everyone's croutons were burnt. Again, we ate because, for the most part, it wasn't inedible except the croutons, but our opinions were not very good either. Main courses, 2 steak meals, both ordered medium rare, one was closer to medium well and the other border line medium but flavor was good baked potato and mashed for the other both good choices. Chesapeake salmon with broccoli was good. Then there were the scallops and asparagus. The presentation was very nice, portion perfect and perfectly cooked but so over salted I couldn't eat them and the asparagus was old and tough. The salt actually burned my throat. I asked the others to try a bit to make sure it wasn't just me. Everyone agreed on too much salt. I had to return the meal. Our server was pleasant but seemed either a little inexperienced or overwhelmed, but she tried very hard to make everything right, kudos to her. For the atmosphere, our booth was right next to the kitchen, lots of traffic going by. For the prices, we all expected...
Read moreBrought home a lil' somethin for a midnite snack! (see "bongobongo dip".photo)...... A great experience at BJ's Danville! Our first visit to this location. We walked through the door and greeted by a familar face, Miss.Heather, all smiles! This set the tone for our evening. Seated at a comfy booth, promptly Miss.Sarah, our waitress arrived taking our drink order. I was very happy to see Pressed Coffee served at this location too, it's a favorite of mine at the Selinsgrove location. Drinks came fast! We placed our order and settled in for some conversation and to take in "the vibe". Koul art throughout ... A really nice bar area ...another dining room in the rear of the restaurant, boasting huge windows, add to the open air feel of this dining room.I also saw an outside dining area, great for the warmer months! Miss. Sarah arrived at our table with our dinner choices ...for the Mrs. A Blue cheese burger...and for myself, BongoBongo Chicken and of course we had BJ's legendary "Bongo~Bongo Dip" ...a must have at every visit to BJ's! .... Everything was perfection, cooked to order and HOT! .... Miss Sarah kept a close eye on our drinks, making sure we were never in need of anything. No desert this time, as we were just too full! .... Read moreHave always enjoyed this restaurant, but am pretty unhappy during our last visit. My girlfriend and I were seated by the host at the back right table of the large dining room. We waited about 20 minutes and were never noticed by the servers. Another table was sat right next to us and a server tended to them facing our direction. I watched the server look at our table then proceed to ignore any responsibility to ask if our table had server coverage. Another server proceeded to help a table right behind ours and also ignore any responsibility to even wonder why our table was still empty of glasses or any items. It was about 30 minutes and we were never waited on. Since it was clear we would not be served we got up to walk out. We walked right past the host who sat us. The host made eye contact with us and immediately put her head down. The host literally knew we had not been served and got up to leave and said nothing to us. She pretended as if she didn't know. Pretty upset. Love the food, but if I can't get any service then I don't see the point in visiting. Visited on 4/16. I would like to say that it was a nice touch from the chefs to say hello on our way through...
