I saw an article praising its croissants yesterday so I thought my wife and I would try it after our Farmers Market today. It's a nice area. We arrived at about 1:45 and they were completely out of ALL types of croissants. No problem. We got there too late so that's on us. We ordered a baguette and the BLT sandwich and there was a problem with the BLT as they had run out of the bread they normally use and asked if a substitution was ok. We agreed. We found an empty table outside but no one had cleared it even though there were several people behind the counter laughing and joking with one another. Apparently they haven't been taught the "If youca lean, you can clean" philosophy. I found a spot for us inside at a side counter which was clear of any cups and such but the counter was covered with crumbs which I brushed off. I went back to the display case and ordered another item. As I approached to pay the young lady that took the BLT sandwich order had just come out from the back carrying the BLT with gloved hands and handed it to the cashier who grabbed the sandwich with his bare hands. He asked me what was wrong and I explained how unsanitary that was and he claimed he had just washed his hands but offered to have another one made. I told him I would take his word and took the sandwich. The sandwich was on a very soft, almost Wonder Bread quality. Not a good look for a French bakery. While it had ample bacon, we were only able to detect 1/2 a grape tomato and it had fallen out of the sandwich. No other tomato was seen in the sandwich. While we were eating a man came from outside holding his table number up and he apparently had been waiting along time as he was not a happy camper. A customer ordered a Croque Monsieur (which was room temperature at best btw). I have never seen one served like that. They're usually cooked to order. This customer asked nicely if they could cut it in half and the person behind the counter said "We have knives!" meaning the plastic cutlery and she could cut it herself. Not a nice way to put it. He could have said there were utensils (and point to where they are) and she could use a plastic knife there to cut it. Even better, provide good customer service and cut it for her.Yet they have a huge jar near the register asking for tips. You would think the place had just opened but that's not the case but it's still no excuse for these things to happen. We may go back early to try all the croissants but I haven't tried the baguette yet. However, they didn't do anything that would compel...
Read moreI bought three croissants.I occasionally buy eclairs, bread and croissant from here. I bought the Krosants for my son. He ate the edges and when he couldn't separate the middle with his hand, I saw that the inside was not cooked like a belt, it had a terrible smell and an incredible doughy smell. Beforehand, I paid close to $100 for my total order. I took the middle of the crosant to an employee and asked them to touch it. It is never separated by hand, it is hard and uncooked, if they smell, everything is obvious. Apparently, this waitress did this with her principles and told her manager about it. The manager came with a swollen face. When I arrived, I already understood her attitude and I said i don’t want extra free croissants just FYI because I get them all the time before but these are so bad. And it is not suitable for health! The manager replied to me that this is edible. WHAT???Then I had a hard time restraining myself from saying, "You eat and I'll see." Then she asked if she could take me to the kitchen and I thought she would go and warn me. She came back and said the people in the kitchen said this was edible. SHe probably brought some for us to eat. “Would you like another?” she asked. But they have such an approach that the obvious thing is that instead of saying sorry for the doughy / uncooked inside, it happens sometimes, they deny it, and I didn't want anything else. I thought maybe they would be embarrassed. I checked the other crosses I bought, they were all disgusting as a belt. We ate the outside and threw away the inside. As it is a popular place they are not customer oriented and are clearly very rude. It is a real one. And I want people to pay attention to that. I didn't want to deal with it any further. Because they always say it's edible, uncooked dough is still edible even though I ate it. It's even hard to separate the dough from each other!
I will never go again. Management is so rude! Saying we're sorry shouldn't be this hard. The important thing is not to be too crowded, the important thing is to maintain the same quality and exist for a long time!!!! I'm sure their quality will decrease day by day!
Note about photos: I gave the uncooked parts to the manager lady and these remaining parts are still in a similar condition. But I couldn't take photos of the others. Be careful, don't...
Read moreNot enough seating on Weekends, but after morning rush.and afternoons before 245 is great, but weekday lunch rushes...my FAVE Bay Area for true Francais Patiessere petit fours and loaves of true parisian.bakers@work!
Been going since jour de une. Amour.is here in the business and it shows dedicated ated workers since day one and new ones even from France. I especially appreciate the Chocolate Easter eggs from last year! 65 but fantastique! We enjoyed for a week.
Joeux Noel had these delicious Holiday cookies and they were made there. The only thing since opening i had noted was the Tea. It IS From France. Pastries abound as you entre' vous the front doors. My FAVE that we bought for work.was these beeswax 'canelles' baked in special trays and their is truely nothing like it. The flavors are rich custard like egg and hollow inside aost dark creme bullied with no granulated sugar on the m outside. They seem burnt but they are and have always been baked like that for deep flavourful tastes.
Don't forget the croque monsieur and Mrs. Croquettes that are more than simply.ham and cheese The formage is deeply rich sauce similar to mornais. And creamy but not overlay powerful overbearing. A French tradition in cafe'.
I can go on and on but not to bore those reading, it's load inside but enjoy sunny mornings outside as the Parisian do with cafe' and croissant. This place will be on SF next list of the bay areas Best Croissant!
I dare you, when in Danville Cistra Conta County to whisk away from daulilies and go to France in Danville, better than ol' LA Boulange, late 2000's for morning rendezvous here
