Wow...just wow...not going to lie we got there at 8:00pm and they close at 9:00pm. Towards the end of our service the food was so good that we realized that our drinks were out, so then we ordered a round for 4 and when the drinks arrived they were warm, even though the server said it was straight out of the freezer (Q: Why would you get drinks out of the freezer? A: Because they were hot and you are trying to get them cold fast). We told the server that we would like cold drinks and she said she would bring them. After about 10 min of not receiving our drinks, she came back and told us sorry we are no longer able to serve the drinks because it's about to close. I said but we had already ordered the drinks and you brought it to us warm. (Instead of just telling us, listen guys our drinks are warm and I don't have anymore cold ones.) I said just leave the opened one and take the rest but she took all of them then left without saying anything and it was near closing (we needed something because we ordered Thai hot 5) I went to the back to see if I could find the server to get at least water. As I got to the back I saw the server balling in tears and I asked why are you crying?? She said no reason ill bring you your drinks. I then said its okay we don't want the drinks but why are you crying and then I asked where is your manager/owner (tall Thai guy) she said he left. (She probably got yelled at by the pony tail guy or owner/manager for bring an opened drink back) Long story short i never saw the server again and when we asked the replacement server (tall white guy with pony tail) where is she, is she okay? He had shady answers to our questions. After asking the guy repeatedly he and another guy near the bar started threatening us and said we were racist and called us a lot of slurs and called the cops on us. We waited for the cops and we paid the bill with a credit card and told the officer to give the server a $20 bill because we didn't trust the staff to give it to her from the credit card. We advised the police that something seemed off with the manager/owner and the staff we encountered and to me it seemed like some kind of human trafficking or being held against her will, hopefully I'm wrong, but we never saw the server again. I asked the officer if she was okay and she said she is still crying, I hope they did a wellness check on her. I hope and pray to god that someone looks into this incident and takes it seriously for the young girl's sake. FYI she was a...
Read moreHaving always loved the Mobile location of Bangkok and recommending it for over 20 years, I have really missed it since they closed. I drove from Mobile to try this location. Only 2 tables were seated when my party came in. One party was leaving and one table was actively being waited on. 2 servers were working and the dining room was not busy. It took quite a while for our server to come ask for our drink order and to recieve drinks. We ordered 2 appetizers and waited a long while. When the apps did come we took one bite then our entrees were being placed down on top on the apps. The Laab, Rangoon and shrimp rolls were good. The curry was not like any I've ever had. It was thin and watery. I will hand it to them, the portion was great and the flavor was good but I fell in LOVE with Thai yellow curry in the 90s dining at their sister location and the curry sauce always had some body and creaminess to it. I've eaten at many Thai restaurants and never encountered a broth like curry such as this. This was literally like a curried soup. I don't know if you have to now ask for the consistency you want but I was disappointed with the texture of the curry "sauce". The dining room is elegantly decorated with the traditional carved wooden tables, chairs etc but the edges of the glass on our table was broken and taped which detracted from the vibe and there was dried food on our table top when we sat down. I have always been a huge fan of Bangkok so I will go again. I respectfully submit this review of our experience to management in the hopes a few things could be...
Read moreTook my family of five to dinner (lunch) with high expectations as this is supposedly highly rated, I was very let down.
SERVICE The service sucked even though it was maybe 25% occupancy. Had to ask for dinnerware, had to ask for water refills. Had to send one glass back with obvious foreign debris floating in the bottom of it. Double checked rest of glasses for cleanliness, really bad when you're compelled to do that. Server was very young and had little charisma or charm, and offered no apologies for the water or shame for forgetting the dinnerware. Bad waitstaff kills restaurants.
APPETIZERS Shrimp Summer Rolls were disappointing, no herbs for added flavor, wrap, lettuce and shrimp, pretty dull if you ask me. And the peanut sauce was just as dull and lifeless. Spring Rolls came out lukewarm like they'd sat for awhile before being served. The Crab Rangoon was good, my daughter enjoyed those.
ENTRÉES I ordered a $20. Softshell Crab in Curry, yes I got a decent sized crab, but scant curry and vegetables. Overall it was very tasty, just a very small serving of curry sauce and veggies and I was left debating ordering another questionable appetizer to fill me up. I decided to not chance it. The other four entree dishes ranged from fairly good to delicious, and were generously portioned. .................. I vote with my wallet, I will not be going back and I do not recommend. Did I say I was...
