Japanese Express — Restaurant in Daphne

My husband and I are both completely dumbfounded by these good reviews. This was absolutely terrible! We started with a salad with ginger dressing, the dressing was good but the lettuce was swimming in water. It went downhill from there. We moved here from Augusta Ga where there was a phenomenal hibachi express called miyabi Jr. This was nothing like that. If you are expecting hibachi like what you get at a Japanese steak house this is not it! We could not even eat it. My husband got steak and scallops. The scallops were like frozen bay scallops you would find in the grocery store and were the size of mini marshmallows. Not what you would expect at a Japanese hibachi express. The steak was either skirt steak or stew meat. This came with steamed flavorless vegetables. That is not hibachi. Chicken had a weird texture and taste. The rice seemed like they threw some steamed rice back in a pan and hit it with some soy sauce. I really have to wonder what these people leaving good reviews eat on the daily. This was like BAD Chinese food...

The food is great! For the price you pay the food is excellent! I ordered spring rolls, miso soups, Roll Tide Roll & the Volcano Roll, all delish. The staff is very kind & honest. I ordered online and left an 18% tip. After I arrived at Japanese Express, gave my order# then my card, paid and left a few dollars more tip. The young girl whom helped me let me know I had already tipped online so I just needed to sign. I said thank you so much for your honesty & kindness! This was the worse $23 i have ever spent. One being a kids order or shrimp tempura with “fried rice”. The rice was just brown salt rice. NASTY. The shrimp was hardly friend and honestly, tasted like dirt. The veggies were by far the best which was just plan carrots.
