Listen, I have been to many East and west African restaurants in and around the East coast, namely Virginia, Maryland, Jersey, New York and even one in the West (California). And having gone to all of these restaurants JD's African restaurant is by far the best I've experienced overall. The restaurant is simplistic and straight to the point. It had all the necessary basics of a good restaurant, inviting, clean, and the food menu was fairly priced/labeled and up to date ( no hidden fees). It even had its own west African ambience that added to the dining experience. And although it may sound silly to some, I however thinks it makes a huge difference. The employees were helpful, timely and professional ( with no unnecessary attitudes). But more importantly the food was phenomenal!! I can't stress this enough. Listen. if you want the best Liberian/west African food in Philadelphia go to JD's. They just cook everything better even Attiekke (and I'm Ivorian!) My only criticism is that he hasn't expanded his business, specifically to downtown DC or has a shipping food service yet. Let's hope he gets on that very soon! Until then I absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for some good Liberian...
Read moreI gave it a 2 stars cause the potatoes greens are good but the overall service is trash when you call the background is so loud that they can’t hear you or understand you so they will hang up the crazy part is they phone is always busy so if they hang up on you ( if your lucky enough to get through) it may take a 5-15min through again…. So after that whole experience I finally get to the store and he tells me it’s gonna be 25min for white rice I told him i been ordered he said he was gonna go get my food then came back with someone else’s food and told him I’m cool and left it’s like they don’t appreciate the business they get it’s inflation going on everything is high the fact that ppl are still even coming to your spot to eat during these times is a huge blessing and you should so your appreciation by at least having good customer service I know ppl that stop going here even tho the food is good because of how...
Read moreI used to frequent this place a lot some years ago. The owner is west african so am I. I thought we should support each other so why not right? Well I have not spoken to nor met anyone there who is professional, they are rude, argumentative and doesnt care. All customer feedbacks are met with attacks and arogance. When I spoke with the owner and mentioned to him that he has to be mindful and pay attention to customer service, he told me that he doesnt care about losing one customer beacuse he has many. This saddens me because what he doesnt see is the bigger picture, and that word of mouth is one of the best advertisement and its FREE! Well I am not angry at all just very much confused. I hope that this changes, and that his mindset also changes, but with his arogance...
