TOGO'S Sandwiches — Restaurant in Davis

This is only my second time posting a less than stellar review. Visited this location on a Friday late afternoon, the place was empty which was somewhat understandable. Walked in the lady making sandwiches was obviously sick or had really bad allergies. I understand that it is hard to find people to work sometime but regardless of the reason if she was indeed sick she should not have been making sandwiches. She was nice and polite. The sandwiches at this location are not what Togo’s used to be. The lettuce was different and I think a little soggy as others have mentioned in reviews I have read. I am not sure how Togo’s franchises work but doesn’t seem they are following the standards or maybe the standards have drastically changed. First time I've tried to eat there in years. I say tried because it was an extremely poor experience that showed no concern for customers or food safety. The young lady who took my order grabbed a knife from the lettuce to cut my bread and the placed it back into the lettuce. Another customer entered for a pickup and a young man working grabbed same knife, cut a hit meat sandwich in half, gave it a half wipe and tossed the knife right back into the lettuce. After having Togo’s for years exclusively at events they catered, my opinion of their sandwiches was low. I recently tried some of their sandwiches at this location and was delightedly surprised at how good they were—a totally different experience than their catering platters. Nice value in the portion size for what you’re paying for the large size sandwiches—much beefier than a typical Subway sandwich, and also larger for similarly priced local competitors like Mr. Pickles and Sourdough & Co. In addition, the service at both my visits recently has been very friendly and speedy....
