Last time, the lasagna portion was HUGE. Both my kids shared it and still had a small portion to take home. This time around (knowing from past experience) I planned on sharing it with my son. I mentioned that and the waitress said there was a $5 split fee. She said it covered the salad and bread portion (which didn't make sense because the salad and bread portion didn't differ in anyway whatsoever). I shrugged it off and said fine. My daughter ordered a cheese pizza. A side order of fettuccine Alfredo was also placed.
Food was served. Cheese pizza, no exaggeration, looked like mozzarella melted on a round saltine cracker. My daughter's face looked broken. Fettuccine Alfredo lacked flavor all around. 2 plates were placed with the lasagna. First glance, impressive. Then you take your form and search for the actual piece. ....about 5 noodles were found DROWNED in sauce. I ended up combining the noodles on a small saucer and gave my son all of it so he had something to eat. I complained about the split fee because to plate dishes of sauce and 5 small noodles wasn't justifiable. Waitress said she'd send the manager over.
A woman came to the table, silently and stared at me with a half smile. No name tag, no uniform indicating title, no introduction, not a word. I said can I help you? She looked confused, still not saying anything. I asked if she was the manager? She finally says yes. I voiced my disappointment and all she said was "the lasagna is a 4x4 square, so each portion should have had a 2x2 portion due to the split". All I wanted was the split fee removed because I truly didn't think the effort of cutting the small portion in half and giving me an extra place was justified due to the 2 bites of food served. She didn't budge and I said "okay, thanks for your time. We won't be returning ".
I know times have changed and inflation can be hard to handle. But I work hard for my money and will not return because I refuse to choose to spend my money ($70, which included tip) on such a disappointing treat when I know for a fact the potential (from past experience) could be so much more! "Customer is always right" is a thing of the past for sure..... we're...
Read moreCHECK UPDATE LOWER ON THE PAGE. Get a new manager. This place usually has good food good service the Tuesday and Wednesday specials make it very affordable. They also give complementary salad and fresh bread. It is a great place to get good Italian food. This was a 4 star review UPDATE 03/03/2019 My family and I five in all went to Italia Gardens in Davison 3/03/19 we all ordered spaghetti. The bread and salad was good, then the spaghetti showed up. First the waitress didn't have a cheese grinder ( they were all broke ) But all of our spaghetti's were cold room temperature. I tell the waitress she was very apologetic took all the plates and brought mine back less than 5 minutes and goes to get the other plates. My spaghetti was still cold in the center she grab mine and took it back again, nobodys plates were hot just warm, i went up front to ask for the manager. She was waiting on take out customers and answering the phone, she ask me if I was there for take out, I said No. She scurried away, I waited finally I told the hostess to send the manager to my table please. After waiting ten minutes no manager I went up front again and the manager is on the phones that are busy but I wait again she finally decided to talk to me, I told her the problem she claims spaghetti and sauce are set at a certain temp but they could heat it up for me, I told her it went back twice and was still not hot so I was done, she said she had not talk to the waitress yet but would remove the meals we didn't want. I may have said something to piss the manager off but if I can't get a meal I will have a show. But this manager didn't have enough courage to come by the table and apologize for the problem. The waitress apologized so I paid the $32. bill and we left a $7 tip, all the waitress can do is bring out what the cooks give her. I will not nor will I ever recommend Italia Gardens in Davison The food and MANAGER SUCK. I have never had a problem with Italia Gardens in Flint on Miller rd. and will drive the extra miles to eat...
Read moreWhat a charming little place! The food and service was excellent and we will absolutely return when we are in the area again.
The atmosphere was really cute and inviting, it really made the place feel warm. And it was very clean. They have a station at the front where you can watch them make the rolls and pizzas in a wood fired pizza oven. It was really charming.
The complementary bread roll and butter was amazing. It's worth going back just for that. We ordered the side of alfredo dipping sauce. It was good, but a little on the thinner side and it tended to separate from the butter after sitting for a bit. The serving size is pretty substantial, which is a plus.
We split a bottle of prosecco and it was decently priced compared to other italian places.
Our house italian salad for the table was great- loved the dressing. However, I was kind of wishing it had been tossed in the dressing already.
My entree was the manicotti and I finished the whole thing. I couldn't fit it, and I still finished it. The sauce was sweet and light, the filling was creamy and seasoned well, the noodles cooked al dente, and the cheese in top was perfectly browned and crisp. I will be craving this from this point forward, all the time.
My fiance's dish was the spaghetti with italian sausage. I am not a good judge because I don't prefer spaghetti noodles in red sauce - its just meh, but if that's your thing, it's a solid choice. Italian sausage is also too fennel-forward, but I will reiterate, if that's your thing, it's a solid choice. It was a little sparse in the sausage, though, especially if that is an upcharge.
Baby got the fettuccini alfredo and it was a great sized portion, especially since kids eat free on mondays. From an adults perspective, it needed lots more salt/pepper/seasoning, but baby enjoyed it and the...
