Well tonight on our trip to rhea county we decided to try a different restaurant. We usually go to the same place because we know exactly the quality of food and service we will receive. We choose this place. First signal was my wife was not seated yet and the server was already at our table asking for drink orders and if we would like an appetizer. Had not even been seated long enough to even glance at the menu.. again my wife was not yet seated. Drinks came out reasonably timed, I guess. Finally decided on an appetizer and ordered. Can’t decide app. Comes with onion rings, chips , Buffalo chicken dip and an awesome fried shrimp. The Buffalo dip had been sitting in its little tin cup long enough to have shrunken in size by at least half with a nice blackened ring on top. Our server informed us that they would be bringing more out shortly. The onion rings are thin lifeless flavorless shoestrings. As I was enjoying the shrimp that was definitely hot off the grill our entrees were delivered to our table just minutes after our appetizer was delivered. They were ordered at least 10 mins after appetizers. I ordered a 12 oz ribeye with Mac and cheese and baked potato. Steak ordered rare. My wife ordered the Philly panini and mashed potatoes. The Philly is supposed to be a choice filet with banana peppers onions and queso dip as recommended by our server. First off there is no possible way that the meat on that sandwich was a filet. It was tougher than my ribeye that I will get to shortly. The only flavor was the over abundance of banana peppers and stale toasted bread that was too hard to eat. Mashed potatoes almost room temperature. With a lovely heat lamp crust over the top. Might I add.. the restaurant was at less than half capacity and not at all busy. So… my $28 dollar 12 oz ribeye… ordered rare served with a nice dollop of creamy butter on top. Had a good flavor. Was cold. My butter never began to melt. With the steak knife provided I could not even cut the steak.I had to use my fork the rip bites off of the cold thin did I say thin and cold $28 12 oz ribeye? As I was gnawing on the first bite I forked a bite of Mac and cheese into my mouth, I guess to soften the chewing a little bit. That was a mistake. While having a pretty good flavor it was so much colder than the bite of the $28 12oz ribeye that made the entire thing unbearable. Now the baked potato was hot and slathered with that great creamy butter that was congealed on the top of my steak. A little salt and pepper and it was almost perfect. I can not remember a time in my life that I left steak on a plate at a restaurant but I left better than half. My wife left half of her pepper sandwich and the cold mashed potatoes. Five stars to the baked potato and the shrimp on the can’t decide platter. But other than that this was the absolute worst food experience I think I have ever had. I paid for everything and even left a decent tip. Will not revisit. And turn on enough light to see at least across the table… oh yea we never got that buffalo chicken dip we were told...
Read moreThis was our third and final time to eat here. We had lunch there the first time and were impressed. Second visit we took family from our of state, service was slow we waited 45min. For food and not everyone was happy with food in our party of 8. Last night went again with family from out of state had horrible experience we will not go back. Waited 40 min. To be seated, gave our food order right away as our waitress was prompt to come over. However it's like she got lost and was avoiding us after that. When she did go by we could not get her attention as she would not look our way. Finally got attention of host and complained that we had been waiting for our food for 1 and 1/2 hours. Then presto there was our food in nothing flat. Unfortunately my chicken parmesan was only one that was good except for chicken a little over cooked. The catfish meal was not catfish was definitely a white fish. We know this because it was totally different from the prior time my husband ordered it 2 weeks ago and liked it. Crab/shrimp Mac and cheese also not the same it was bland not the same as 2 weeks ago very cheesey and full of shrimp and chopped tomatoes. my husband ordered a steak medium rare, it was cooked well done, baked potatoes was dry and okra soggy. Along with all of this waitress filled drinks once, asked if everything ok once which we promptly said we will take the check. After waiting that long for food what can you really do cause you surely don't want to wait for anything else. I normally don't right a review but our experience was so horrible. I wanted to talk to manager last night but we think they were hiding in the back with wait staff. Did not see one all night barely saw waitresses on floor after they took orders. We do not recommend this place nor will we be...
Read moreOkay I get it, the dining options in Dayton/Rhea are slim to none but come on. I had a very good salad, a decent shrimp n grits order (overpriced) but the dessert took the cake, so to speak.
I ordered a coconut cream parfait. IT WAS ONE TEASPOON OF COCONUT CREAM AND THE REST WAS OLD CAKE MIX IN A VERY SMALL JELLY LIKE JAR. It was $4.49 for something that shouldn't cost more than $1.49
My forth time eating here and only one was worth the time/money.
Editreply to the owners replyThank you for your reply although it's a complete lie. I never harrassed any of your staff. I received my entree within a minute of receiving my salad, didn't even have the salad dressing poured, so I asked that it be kept warm while I ate my salad. I complained about that pitiful dessert. Even your manager agreed with me on how pitiful it was. She even removed it from the bill because of it. So as a suggestion, don't blame customers for your inferiorities. You can't afford to lose many more patrons.
And as far as other 1 star reviews, you are referring to Ayala's. And if you go look at their business, you will see that it's barely making it, worse than you believe it or not. And they were lucky to get that one star. No one wants green mold in their dessert.
Or maybe you are referring to that joke of a steak n shake. I don't even have to go into details on that place. You're the owner of it and you see the lack of daily receipts. I bet between utilities, food and employee costs that it won't be long before you're pouring borrowed money into...
