Upon entering my first thought was that the interior was not inviting or warm, but rather bleak and bland. The barista who greeted us seemed extremely nervous for some reason, and then as the other barista began speaking to my girlfriend and I, it became clear why she would be having anxiety. This other barista (has longer dark hair with braids) had a very hostile energy to her. I was experiencing confusion with the menu because it is VERY “unique” with a multi step process to just ordering a coffee. Nobody asked us if we had any questions and in fact when I was trying to describe what I usually make for myself at my job (I am also a barista; as well as my gf) she dryly said to me “Okay so is that what you want.” when I said yes she told me that the extra 2 shots were going to be an additional $4 dollars. That is insane given we are not in an area where the average income could support buying coffee at that price lol. I live in Reno, and my coffee shop only charges an extra dollar for 2 more shots. I was intrigued why it was so expensive so I asked where they source their espresso beans and the rude barista just said “We make them”. I ended up just going with my order despite the price and stepped outside to let my grif liens finish up the transaction as I was getting upset. A few minutes later my girlfriend comes out and explains to me that when she asked for breve (aka half and half) for her iced white mocha the barista told her it would be an extra $6 dollars, so we decided to just leave and not get any drinks at all. I genuinely don’t know where Larry is getting the audacity to request prices like this, and to the barista who said you “make your beans”— okay so where are they being grown??? As a fellow barista I’m beyond disappointed with your lack of knowledge and toddler level...
Read moreAs I pulled up to Larry's for the first time, I couldn't help but feel I was back in 1849 passing through this mining town with my horse and wagon. That's the nostalgia the original building from back then brought forth. As I passed through that vibrant red door I was taken back by the aroma of what I can only describe as the finest coffee in Nevada, possibly the west coast, possibly the east coast and everywhere in between. I was met with none other than Larry himself sporting a custom made top hat and an old fashion western get up. I told him it was my first time in the coffee house and he wasted little time to excitedly tell me of all that his coffee is and more. I don't want to hint at too many details and ruin the show for someone's first visit in. I had a very in depth discussion of how my perfect cup of coffee would taste. Larry crafted the most delicious cup of coffee I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. Now, unlike any other coffee shop I have been at, I was given a sample of my coffee to be to make sure it was made perfectly to my taste. Larry nailed it on the first run! One could definitely tell this is the hidden gem of the coffee world and it's right here in Dayton Nevada. I was also informed that Larry has another coffee house in Virginia City Nevada. If your'e looking for the perfect cup of coffee with all the pageantry of the old west with an ambiance that brings you back for more along with the aroma of the finest coffee in all the land, Larry's Gourmet Coffee House is something your'e going to want...
Read moreI'm not ashamed to say that I'm a bit obsessive when it comes to coffee. I literally order my coffee from Germany, along with my white chocolate powder for making mochas. I recently moved into Dayton, so I really had no idea where a friend and I could go to get a decent cup of coffee. My friend looked on yelp and found Larry's.The Yelp reviews were really good, so we drove over to give it a shot. When we walked in, Larry greeted us with a warm and genuine hello, and asked if this was our first time in? We said it was, and he proceeded to explain how his place worked. We ordered, and before our cups were full, he gave us each a little taste test, to see if anything needed adjusting, before he finished and gave us our cups. Perfect! Coffee is Larry's passion, and it shows! This is the absolute best cup of coffee I've ever had, outside my own front door, and honestly, it rivals what I make at home with my imported coffee from Germany. The amount of time and energy he's put into the research into the perfect cup of coffee really shines through. This has now become a daily habit for me. Usually in the afternoon, when you hit that sluggish part of the day.... a quick trip to Larry's perks me right back up! You won't find a better coffeehouse or a nicer guy behind the...
