While I normally don’t take the time to write reviews (either positively or negatively) my experience tonight at Thai 9 has to rank as one of the worse experiences from an atmosphere perspective. Thai 9 has always been a go to for work lunches, group get togethers and dinner while doing something downtown. The food is always excellent and while a noisy environment, not unbearable. Tonight, my wife and I showed up at 5:50, well before the evening rush and were seated in the back room. There were two parties of 8+ in the back and even though we were seated in the corner, one party acted as if it was their private room. Fortunately they were getting their checks so we decided we would wait out the noise. It took approximately 10 minutes before a server appeared and took our orders. I don’t don’t blame the servers for this as it seems to be the normal these days due to short staffs.
As the loud party was leaving, to our chagrin a table of 12 was seated in the remaining open tables. It turns out this table was even louder and extreme vulgarity ensued (didn’t know how good we had it with the first table). I felt sorry for the families with children eating in the back room. The food took 40+ minutes to arrive and while we simply could not have a conversation (resorted to texting each other as we could not compete with the f-bombs and yelling coming from the table behind us). While I know a restaurant cannot control all patrons, however this was a case where any reasonable manager should have addressed the issue with the offending patrons. Instead, as my wife was leaving, she told the person who we assumed to be the manager that as “constructive criticism” you probably shouldn’t seat a party of two next to such a large party. His response was, “yes, I saw that and I never would have seated you there, I don’t know why they did”…and that is why I am leaving this review. A manager identified a problem and did nothing to resolve it. Perhaps he will address his hosts in the future to be cognizant of where you seat smaller parties when larger parties are dominating a space, but to him there was nothing to address when two people sat in his restaurant and could not carry on a conversation.
I’m sure the table of 12 will have a very large bill tonight however Thai 9 has last a 15 year patron. I will instead take my business where it is wanted, Thai Table in Centerville or Massaman Thai on Patterson. However, if you are looking for a bar type environment, where you can’t hear yourself think and want to spend $20+ on an entree then this is the...
Read moreIn the past, it was always delicious. However, today we went at 5. First customers, I ordered kanisu and my husband ordered crab ragoon as appetizers. My husband ordered a German beer and I had water. Then my husband ordered pepper steak as his main course level one heat, got level 3. I didn't order nothing but the kanisu. When Gary, our waiter brought my husband's main dish out, he said my kanisu is coming right out. Then as my husband had eaten a good portion of his meal, the waiter came back and said that they don't have kanisu, so you want something else?! I said, no. At this point I was very frustrated.... hoping that this would be the last of this horrible experience at an upperclass restaurant. Nope! Wishful thinking.... so then, the waiter brings our bill. $42.50 (water, beer, ragoon, pepper steak, kanisu). No credit for $3 parking (which ticket says- do not have to display). So then I had to go to the service desk ask if the kanisu could be taken off and where is the credit for $3 dollar parking. The host hands me $3 in cash. I go back to my table then give our waiter my card. He hands me back the card with a new receipt for $32.82. So strike 1, 2, 3 you're out! Then as we are leaving, the manager says are you sure we can't get you something to go..... are you kidding me?! Over 45 minutes of total chaos, my husband ate his food and you want to send me home with food so I can eat my meal cold or warmed up. Damage control unsuccessful! So over $30 for one person, 45 minute wait, wrong total on the bill and wanting to send me home with food to eat when I get home?! Not! No offer to compensate for the inconvenience or discount, no nothing. Which you might be saying, they offered something. Yeah as I'm wheeling my husband out the exit door. No thank you, I'm not waiting another decade to get food that will be eaten after the fact. Sorry for the nasty review but I am very disappointed to...
Read moreI wish I could say we had a good experience here but unfortunately we did not. We went for lunch and it was for someone's birthday. Lunch is served till 2 p.m. but we weren't able to get there till 1:20 p.m. We were waiting for one person in our party that had not arrived yet but were ready to order whenever. Our waitress came by and got our drink order and an appetizer order. When we were ready to order we discussed it with the waitress and had a really wonderful time talking about the different options with her. It was around 2 when she was done getting our order and went to put it in. A minute later the manager came back with her to let us know that it was too late to place an order... And that was it. He didn't even sound really sorry but more matter of fact that we should have known it was 2 and we couldn't place an order. Really?? The waitress felt terrible and was really sorry that she did not realize what time it was. She told us not to pay for our appetizer and my drink, which had never arrived anyhow (I ordered it at 1:30). We had no choice but to leave at that point. I think the restaurant should have told the waitress that it was almost time to close and to get your final orders in. We could have ordered 20 minutes earlier but did not know that the order had to be in before 2 p.m. I really like this restaurant and their food. I just think the manager could have been more apologetic and maybe offered a coupon for a future visit. It was a bad experience with a manager that just didn't care. I'm so...
