No offense, but Dayton has probably some of the worst options for aging and unrenovated hotels. My brother lived in the area and when I visited him and his family, finding an updated and clean hotel accommodations was always a challenge. For this 3-night stay, I was very pleased to see Dayton had a new AC Hotel, which opened in 2023.||Check-in: The Front Desk attendant, Berna, was great! Not only with the initial check-in process but during the entire visit. She was friendly, smiled, very helpful, great personality – all the things you appreciate in a Front Desk attendant. She was from Turkey, and we briefly discussed my visits to her country. Even the evening Front Desk attendants were pleasant upon entry and exiting the hotel. A pleasant smile goes a long way when you're traveling. Congrats to the Front Desk!||I used the self-parking option and parked the rental car directly across the street in the garage. As with many things in the new world of travel, you’ll need to use an app and reserve a space. The garage allows in and out privileges.||Room 503: I’m learning to like AC Hotels since they do not have carpet – yes! I think it’s LPV, which is fine. Anything but carpet! I had a corner king room with tall windows on two sides. Excellent natural light and the view looked toward the local minor league baseball field. I think the downside of an AC Hotel room is the lack of options for closed storage, i.e., a closet and sufficient drawers. I’m not a fan of open closets where visitors can see your clothing. The oversized room had a large desk, couch, sitting chairs, a cocktail table, and a fairly comfortable king bed. Plenty of available space and sufficient electrical outlets at the desk. The bathroom (which had sufficient towels upon check-in) was small and that was fine – everything worked and appeared clean. The room also included an appliance to make tea and a mini-frig/cooler and included 2 small bottles of water. No issues with the Internet – worked fine.||The website indicates daily housekeeping. However, I had a room refresh only once during this 3-night stay. Not a deal-breaker but I’m finding housekeeping services at most hotels, as a consequence of the pandemic, are vague, inconsistent, and seem to be random if they happen at all. Room rates continue to increase, but services are reduced or limited. It’s difficult to continue to support an industry that offers so little when you pay so much. I tell most people: just stay home. Traveling isn’t worth it these days.| |Since I was busy with family, I didn’t experience their breakfast or gym. We did have dinner one night at the restaurant on the top floor of the hotel. I thought the food was forgettable and not very good. The simple hamburger was a disaster in presentation and taste. My companions all thought the food was less than interesting. While the primary waitperson was pleasant, we had to repeatedly ask for things that were obvious, e.g., flatware, refill of the water glasses, etc. To be fair, I never expect a hotel restaurant to be good. At this price point, they usually are not. ||Overall, the hotel room turned out well for this visit. I wish AC Hotels would do a better job with their lack of closets with a door and...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful hotel, and I must say that my experience was truly outstanding. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by the warmest smiles and enthusiastic staff members who made me feel right at home. However, one particular employee, Darnell, stood out from the rest with his exceptional service and genuine kindness.
Darnell went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was nothing short of perfect. His commitment to customer satisfaction was evident in every interaction we had. Whether I needed recommendations for local attractions or assistance with any requests, Darnell was always there with a friendly demeanor and an eagerness to help.
One instance that truly showcased Darnell's remarkable dedication was when I encountered a minor issue with my room. I reached out to the front desk, and Darnell was quick to respond. Not only did he resolve the matter promptly, but he also followed up later to ensure that everything was to my satisfaction. His attention to detail and genuine concern for my comfort truly impressed me.
Furthermore, Darnell's knowledge about the local area was invaluable. He provided me with a comprehensive list of nearby restaurants, attractions, and hidden gems that I would have otherwise missed. Thanks to his thoughtful recommendations, I was able to explore the city like a local and have an unforgettable experience.
In addition to his professionalism, Darnell exuded a genuine warmth and kindness that made my stay truly memorable. He took the time to engage in friendly conversations, making me feel like more than just a guest. His warm personality and genuine interest in ensuring my happiness left a lasting impression on me.
I cannot express my gratitude enough for Darnell's exceptional service and unwavering commitment to making my stay unforgettable. Read moreThis location was one of the worst Marriott experiences I have had by a good bit. It was so bad I ended up leaving the second night and just drove home at 1am.
Initially I was hopeful as the hotel appears pretty new, but that did not translate to a good experience. The rate of $14 a night for parking is only accurate if you get there pretty late in the night. It ended up costing me $24 to park for a single day. Additionally the room smelled heavily of cigaret smoke even though the building claims to be smoke free. On the second night, at about 12am people were having a party in the hall and it was just loud so I ended up cutting my losses and driving home as I was already done with the entire experience.
After getting home, I was going to let it be - however then the Hotel charged me for miscellaneous items from the room that I did not use. I figure this is easy enough and call in, but the person at the front desk states that water charges cannot be waived. I asked for a manager because this was just a silly thing to hear and I was told that one wasn't available and would call me in a day or so - but no time could be given as to when. After asking why it couldn't be fixed a few times they stated a manager would call in 30 minutes. This is a pretty good racket to pad charges - just say they can do whatever they want and make it non-refundable. Particularly when its a rewards member and the hotel can kind of have an idea of what a guest typically does in their hotels.
Overall I wouldn't stay. They are more focused on looking like a good hotel than...
