Our children, my husband, and myself visited the OE for my birthday. The last time I was there, I was pregnant with my now 26 year old son. Needless to say, our kids have not been there. It was fun, and very little changed. I am guessing they are extremely understaffed because one one person waiting tables and the bar. She did not ignore any of the tables or bar patrons. We were all taken care of. The pizza was still as good as I remember. I was even able to still get my anchovies on the side, much to my family's chagrin. No problem, it was MY birthday. Anyway. The food was great. The bloody mary was great, and the service as well as the ambiance was also great. We will not wait another 26 years between visits. Maybe a month. Hmm, maybe just two weeks. That sounds like a plan. I need to mention, we did have to pay for parking, though.

One of the best venues in Dayton to enjoy live music, enjoy a good crowd of people, find a wonderful staff who work hard to make sure that you time at the OE is always a good one. But the thing we always go back for are their Nachos (see below). I know many restaurants in town can serve you nachos, but the OE's nachos is so good to us! Maybe it's the salsa or the way they add all the way together on the chips, but this particular dish is so simple and so delicious!! Add to it your favorite spirits or a variety of bottled beer from local breweries, some from around the state and around the country and it is a good night for anyone. If you plan on a night down in the Oregon District your first stop should be the Oregon Express.

This place is unbelievable. I always come in in order the exact same thing when I sit at the bar. It’s a chicken sandwich called The Derailer… and it’s the “CRACK” of baked poultry sandwiches. I could write a love song about this meal and the honey mustard they make in house. But nothing is better than the warm feeling you get when the owners say hello to you by name. This is one of my favorite restaurants in the Miami Valley without question. Five star service all day long!! A MUST STOP if you’re ever in Downtown Dayton! (The Oregon District)

This was my first time trying Oregon Express and can definitively say it will also be my last. While the service at the start of the evening was already lackluster, what really pushed it into nightmare territory was when it came time to pay. We gave the waitress our card and sat for twenty minutes without her ever coming back to the table. At that point we walked over to the bar where we were told the machine was down. They then proceeded to keep us and all other card paying patrons there for another 20 or so minutes while they just kept trying the machine. I know the machine failing was not their fault, but they were in control of how it was handled, which was terribly. At no point while we sat at the table did anyone explain what was happening- our waitress did not even come back, just other servers rushing by saying she’d be right back with the card. We were delayed by almost an hour because of this, and in the end it still did not work. Their final resolution was to take down card number information to charge cards after people left without giving them receipts which is so completely unprofessional. I will be nervously watching...

I have been a loyal customer of this establishment for many years, drawn by its excellent pizza, central location, prompt service, and friendly staff. However, over the past few months, I have noticed troubling behavior from one of the bartenders. This bartender, who is extremely petite and skinny with blonde hair and typically works the evening/night shifts, has demonstrated a noticeable bias in her service. I have observed that her treatment of customers appears to vary based on race. On several occasions, I have personally experienced, and witnessed, instances where people of color receive less attentive service compared to white patrons, who are greeted with exceptional courtesy. This differential treatment has made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable during my visits. I want to emphasize that my concern is with this individual’s conduct and not with the establishment as a whole. It is disheartening to encounter such behavior in a community as diverse as ours. I sincerely hope management will address this issue so that all customers, regardless of their background, are treated with the respect and fairness...

Horrible customer service! Came downtown for a performance and walked here afterwards to pick up a pizza. Was told by the doorman that we could go in and order, but if we "got caught" sitting down that we would be charged $20. Yes, we all had to stand as we looked over the menu, placed our order and waited for it to be ready. Additionally, the doorman came inside to stand and watch us the entire time making certain that we never took a seat while we waited. We placed our order and asked the bartender for paper plates. She was extremely rude and stated that she could get our pizza, but not plates, and then walked away to charge my debit card. I asked the manager for the owner's phone number and, instead of asking what issues we were experiencing and how she could resolve those issues, she said "what's your problem?" Unbelievable. Great...
