Feathers Vintage Clothing — Local services in Dayton

Disappointing and unprofessional. I visited this store with my family, and while browsing, my sister found a record she was genuinely excited about purchasing. Just as she picked it up, the store owner approached her, apologized, and informed her that the record was no longer for sale—he had decided to set it aside to give as a gift to someone else. No sign indicated it wasn't for sale, and it was displayed alongside other items, as if it were available like everything else.

Instead of offering an apology that acknowledged the inconvenience, he casually dismissed the situation by saying, “There are thousands of other things in here for sale you can find.”

The interaction felt dismissive and unprofessional, especially for a retail setting. If items aren't for sale, they shouldn't be out on display. It's one thing to reserve an item in advance, but to remove it from availability after a customer has already expressed interest is poor practice. Definitely left a bad taste and made the whole visit feel awkward and frustrating.

The owner is openly racist and will lie in your face about how she acquired the clothing, high prices and she’s claims to be too old to know how to trade or lower her prices she literally said to me. I used to enjoy the store in 2016 but going recently I can tell the owner needs to retire her judgment of items is very bad id say. Unless you’re a white woman I wouldn’t even try to sell to her. I brought in a vintage Lacoste navy blue dress very clean , she said “wow this is kinda nice but I don’t like the material” what does the material have to with any random person coming in and wanting to buy it. Things like that don’t make sense to me . I even tested it and sent in a friend of mine who is white with the same items a week later and she bought almost all of them instead of how she told me no on everything… I wouldn’t support this...

I adore Feathers. The atmosphere is welcoming. I always manage to find something to take home. Great selection of vintage clothes and every now and then I get lucky and find some pieces that fit. On my last visit I got two stunning dresses from the 50's and some great hats. I receive numerous compliments when I wear them and always say that it's vintage and came from Feathers. Prices are reasonable and I love to support a locally owned...
