I'd give The Captain's Fish & Chicken 10 stars if I could! I was randomly looking on the web for restaurants & came across this one & got SO excited when I saw that they had Catfish, deep Fried Okra & Fried Mushrooms. I'm a southern gal & it's rare to find southern cooking the way I like it. The catfish fillets were very fresh & I could tell the okra (my favorite vegetable) was fresh & not frozen breaded okra. There's not a lot of seating, but room enough for a group if you want to take your family or friends there. I brought my meal home & after eating my first bite, I knew this would be my favorite place! I thought I'd died & gone to Heaven & my first thought was that I hoped it would always be this good & tasty. My meal of 2 pieces of Catfish fillets, Cole Slaw (which was perfect too), Fried Okra & Fried Mushrooms was just under $18 ($17 something), but the portions were so big that i made 2 meals out of it! That's only $9 per meal & I looked SO forward to eating the other half the next day. I heated it in the oven & not the microwave, because I wanted it to be crisp. It tasted just as fresh as the day before! The fillets were really big, the okra & mushroom portions were big & it was well worth the price! The whole time I was eating I kept thinking "This tastes like it came from a 5* restaurant!" I'm sorry to go on & on, but I am SO excited about it & can't wait to order again. As much as I'm crazy about catfish, I will order chicken & the hush puppies with it next time. But I also want to try everything else on the menu! You cannot understand how excited I am & also that it's close to me. (Even though I'd go out of my way to go there) I've already bragged abot it to my son & daughter + close friends & even sent them screenshots of the menu. My daughter's response was "That looks great!" She & I already have plans to meet there for lunch. And last, I want to say hank you to the owners for opening this place! I didn't know who the guy was at the counter who handed me my food, but as I was walking out the door I said to him, "If I like it, I'll give you a GREAT review!" Maybe he'll remember "Mary Jane", because I told him I'm from the deep...
Read moreFood isn’t bad at all. Price isn’t bad either. Just make sure you tell them not to over seasoning the food which they tend to do. As long as it’s not over seasoned food is awesome. I haven’t had everything on the menu. I usually order fish shrimp, Philly steak and cheese. They’re all pretty good and the people that are complaining about things they don’t like. I just wouldn’t order it ,is everything good on the menu? I don’t know, but if you don’t like it don’t order it and as for the guy saying they treat Black people bad and differently. That’s not true in fact most of their clientele is black. Every time I go in there the majority of customers are Black people buying food. There are only two tables because the place is small but it’s never been dirty when I’ve been in there. So I think some of the opinions on here that are bad reviews are a bit biase, at least your food...
Read moreFirst time there, TAKE CASH, charge 3.5% for debit or credit. Dine-in is a joke, 2 tables with lousy chairs. No fountain pop or ice. We ordered 20 boneless with barbeque. Ranch, fries, and Cole slaw. I usually watch the cook but this time husband did but Dil. He didn't tell me cook did NOT wear gloves, was touching all kinds of things around kitchen, wiping hands on dirty apron, and other items, did not mention that he NEVER saw the guy out barbeque sauce on. We didn't check (bad on us). Get home, NO BAR-B-QUE sauce, but will say chunks are HOT, tender, and juicy. French fries were okay. Overall, because of lack of cleanliness and inaccuracies on order, won't go back. I called them (think cook answered) couldn't speak English well. If you can't communicate, can't follow the...
