A Vibrant & Authentic Coffee Experience
For my birthday, I wanted to try a new coffee shop in Cincinnati and came across this spot on CityBeat’s list of the Best Coffee Shops in Cincinnati. With that kind of recognition, I knew I had to check it out.
As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by a colorful and vibrant atmosphere, with decorative palettes of red and yellow—a refreshing sight, especially during the colder months. The café is small yet inviting, with a quiet but lively energy—a great place to get work or homework done.
I ordered a drip coffee in the yellow mug (for free refills),a side of oat milk at the counter, and to my surprise, the barista spoke Spanish, so I placed my order in Spanish. As a Latino, it was a great experience to use my first language in a local café, especially in Dayton, Kentucky a place where I didn’t expect it.
During my visit, I met the owner, who shared the inspiring story of how he started this café in 2019 to showcase his Honduran roots through coffee and food. His son was also there, helping with orders, which made it feel like a family-centered business, something I love supporting.
For food, I ordered their avocado toast, which was topped with scrambled eggs, cheese, and cilantro—all adding incredible depth and flavor. I asked for honey drizzled on top, which gave it a unique sweet yet balanced taste.
I also tried their protein bowl with scrambled eggs, which was filling and cooked to perfection. The peppers and onions reminded me of my Mexican roots, similar to huevos a la mexicana. I added a little Cholula for an extra kick, but even without it, the food exceeded expectations—especially considering it’s a coffee shop.
Overall, I will definitely be back to try their breakfast tacos and continue supporting this family-owned Latino business. It’s a gem for anyone looking for great coffee, delicious food, and an authentic...
Read morePerfect community coffee shop! Unataza has wonderful coffee, fun seasonal drinks to try, and delicious food options, and on top of that, everyone who works there is a delight. My go-to orders are a dirty horchata or Americano and the Tacoma taquito, but I've enjoyed everything I've ordered there.
It's a relaxed atmosphere to grab coffee with a friend, and there's plenty of seating with chargers against the wall, so it's also a great set-up to work (get the yellow mug coffee for refills!). Plus, there's nearby street parking or free parking in the Dayton city lots. It can get busy on a Sunday morning, but even then, it's always...
Read moreI just got home from getting coffee, a breakfast burrito, and a cinnamon roll. Let me tell you, this place is incredible. I went in with high expectations and it exceeded all of them. My wife and I split the burrito much to my dismay because learned soon after my first bite that I wished I had the whole thing to myself. The cinnamon roll is the best I’ve had in a long time, and I’m not even that big of a cinnamon roll guy to begin with. The coffee—a simple 12oz drip—is amazingly refreshing on a cold, grey day like today. I cannot wait to go back. Without hesitation, I recommend this to anyone...
