Can’t decide between Thai, Korean and Japanese? Do you want your mind to explode over the infinite possibilities of noods? Do you want a soup appetizer followed by MORE SOUP? My soup loving self found joy at Ichi Ni San in Daytona beach’s riverfront district. I started with their shoyu tonkatsu appetizer soup which was practically a half bowl of ramen sans noodles. The broth was perfectly salty, and had a tiny hint of herbs which was refreshing against the rich broth. My father had a tom kha soup appetizer which was again a half portion of a standard ramen bowl. Let me tell you, this tom kha broth was hands down the best I’ve ever had. Creamy, hints of lemongrass and galangal, just the right amount of sweet, heat, and the perfect punch of fish sauce. We also got a spicy crispy calamari appetizer which was cooked well and had a nice variety of tempura veggies in there as well. For mains, pork katsu donburi which had perfectly fried pork and wonderfully fluffy and flavorful rice. Only complaint was it could’ve used more sauce. I got the Hokkaido grilled seafood ramen which had green and black mussels, shrimp, and squid rings. A delicious light broth let the seafood shine and the noodles were cooked to perfect texture. The service was outstanding, three servers and they all checked on us periodically. The food was so good I didn’t even mind sitting outside in near 90 degree heat with a huge thunderstorm looming in the distance (they have inside tables, they were just full when we got there) The menu is extensive but I feel like they do it all well. I’ll definitely be back to try other things once I get through all these leftovers!

I tried Ichi Ni San for the first time today 10/18/23 not knowing what to expect but excited after wanting to go since they opened, however it turned out to be a huge disappointment. I settled on a Sushi roll after a good look at the menu and initially being disappointed by the lack of Tuna options they offer as well as the prices and a pushy waitress that was not content allowing me to look at the menu, read and decide what I wanted when I was ready. Seriously, what was with the rush? Even after we finished she seemed to be in a hurry to see us out, she even waited at the table until we paid, talk about an uncomfortable situation. The Sushi roll I got was terrible, my company seemed to enjoy theirs but I did not. The rice was the wrong type for Sushi to begin with, it was undercooked and poorly prepared which gave the roll a bitterness as ill prepared sushi rice generally does. That didn't taste too good with chewy Nori under it and topped with Tuna that wasn't particularly good either, it was pretty flavorless to be honest. The roll had a kimchi sauce drizzled on it but it didn't add much of anything or compliment the roll. The only positive thing I can honestly say about this place is that they do put a lot of effort into presentation from what I saw. The restaurant itself has a comfortable traditional Japanese aesthetic that is pleasing to the eye and a presentable looking dish. Other than the overall presentation and aesthetic this place did not leave a positive impression on me whatsoever. I think they are terribly overpriced and deliver poor service matched with equally poor quality food. I've had worse but again for the price you can expect to pay here there are way better options out there. My recommendation would be to take your business elsewhere. One last note, the restaurant is fairly clean but on my way to the bathroom I could clearly see cobwebs and spiders dangling in that area. That's not an appealing sight when you're about to order food fyi.

Solid spot. Went scouting for a future date night with the wife and was not disappointed. Got there 23 minutes after they opened and they were already packed; 30 minute wait. Got seated at a 4-top because they didn’t want me waiting anymore, but transitioned to the bar (what I originally asked for) once space opened up. They were slammed with only a pair in the kitchen and a pair of servers but handled everything fine, never had to wait too long for anything and the sushi chef flew. Pretty extensive menu and everything looks great so choosing was tough, but I was solo so I wanted to eat some things I knew my wife wouldn’t try while I had the chance, and I was not disappointed. Had a few slices of Toro they had in, the Jelly Octopus Wasabi, Hamachi carpaccio, two each of the tuna and escolar nachos (I misunderstood the menu and accidentally ordered a double order), and a boba tea for the ride home. Everything was phenomenal and I could have eaten more. Will definitely be back to try their Thai Yum salads, the extensive fried rice offerings, and more from the raw bar! Brought the wife back a couple weeks later and again, was a hit; may have found our regular Friday night spot. Spicy chicken yum salad, tuna and escolar garlic lime salad, and teriyaki combination bowl. 🤌🤌

There is a nice selection of vegan options. However, we found the food quite light on flavor. The veggie sushi really did not have any seasoning in the tempura, nor special sauce to make it pop. The ramen was very bland and had less flavor than store bought miso soup. I think they do not have a recipe for vegan tare, so they just leave it out and the soup simply doesn't have the umami necessary. The curry was the best dish. It was HUGE and had lots of curry broth. Think of it more like a soup than a regular Thai curry. If the ramen had the flavor level of the curry, this would be a 4 star review. The atmosphere was very simple, nice, and clean. No complaints about it being dirty or dusty. It is a very small restaurant, so you definitely need reservations or eat on off peak times. Service was good, but not stellar. I'm not going to dock them hard on service because it appears impossible to get great service anywhere these days, but we did have a few times where we were waiting abnormally long for a refill or to pay the check. Regardless, this is a nice restaurant with good service. The vegan food (at least the three dishes we tried) averaged on the 3 star "it's okay" rating so we wouldn't necessarily go back unless there were no other options open nearby.

If you're a fan of Asian cuisine, ICHI NI SAN Asian Grilled Ramen & Sushi is an absolute must-try restaurant. The atmosphere is welcoming and cozy, with a modern touch that is both sophisticated and fun. The staff is friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, making the dining experience enjoyable from start to finish. The menu is extensive and features a wide range of delicious dishes, from traditional Japanese sushi and sashimi to mouth-watering grilled ramen and hotpots. Each dish is expertly prepared with fresh and high-quality ingredients, and the presentation is a feast for the eyes. The sushi is incredibly fresh, and the rolls are creative and flavorful. The grilled ramen is a unique take on a classic dish, and the hotpots are perfect for sharing with friends and family. The portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable, making it an excellent value for the quality of food and service. Overall, ICHI NI SAN Asian Grilled Ramen & Sushi is a fantastic restaurant that is sure to satisfy any Asian cuisine lover. It's a great place to gather with friends, family, or even for a date night. The combination of delicious food, welcoming atmosphere, and exceptional service makes it a standout dining destination. I highly recommend giving it a try!

My new favorite place for Asian cuisine! We were amazed with the quality of food, service and variety. This is a long but worth it read! Situated in a small space but absolutely amazing food. Freshly prepared and so good. Our waiter was knowledgeable of the ingredients, flavor profiles and had excellent recommendations. We are from the Caribbean and like heat, they did not disappoint with both our entrée dishes: Seafood Tom Yum Ramen and the Cashew Chicken Rice bowl. My husband and I couldn't decide which we liked better. The balance of flavors and textures was just really delicious. I hoped for leftovers but we just couldn't stop. My daughter had shrimp shumai and a salmon/avocado sushi roll. She absolutely love them. The chef also had us try a (new to us) dessert, red bean ice cream with frozen raspberries, chocolate and mint. It was the right ending to our meals. Simple but decadent. I included the dessert plate at the end in my photos. (There was nothing left!) I can't wait to head back and try more!
