The reviews were good, so we decided to try eating at Ichi Ni San when we visited Daytona Beach for an appointment on Friday 5/9. We arrived a few minutes before they officially opened for the afternoon at 4:30 p.m., so we waited under their awning during a rainstorm. We were invited in promptly at 4:30pm by the host. We were allowed to pick our own table since we were one of the first customers in. We chose one close to the wall since there wasn't a lot of space (around 8-10 tables and 6 bar seats at the sushi bar). The menu had a lot of popular sushi rolls and simple cuisine, both raw and cooked (menu itself was kinda greasy to the touch, so definitely had to wash my hands after handling it). Regarding washing my hands, when I was walking to the bathroom and got past the hallway rug, I noticed the tile floor was very slippery (almost like someone wiped it with a greasy mop) so I had to walk very carefully to get to the ladies' room. The rest room was clean and had everything important in stock (tp, paper towel, soap). On my way back to our table, I almost had to walk a little like a penguin past the kitchen entrance due to that slick floor. When the server returned to our table, we ordered the hot sake, salmon avocado roll, Ichi's signature noodle dish - combination udon (chicken/beef/shrimp), Thai iced tea, jasmine tea, and a Fuji matcha latte with boba. The drinks were excellent - sake was hot and strong, jasmine tea was very strong, Thai iced tea was delicious, and the matcha latte was smooth. The latte does have whipped cream (from a can), so if you don't like that, be sure to ask for no whipped cream. The food arrived around 10 minutes later, the sushi roll tasted fresh, and my husband's udon bowl had jumbo shrimp, soft beef strips, and chicken breast strips in it. The only thing he didn't like was the seaweed flakes, which weren't mentioned on the menu description. Luckily, I like those, so I finished that portion for him. Total lunch (with tip) was $86. The location overall is very cramped when it's busy, so it's probably better to go when it's not so close to early dinnertime. We had a nice late lunch date here, but most likely won't be back due to the very slippery floor and cramped space. Thanks for an interesting foodie experience.

I tried Ichi Ni San for the first time today 10/18/23 not knowing what to expect but excited after wanting to go since they opened, however it turned out to be a huge disappointment. I settled on a Sushi roll after a good look at the menu and initially being disappointed by the lack of Tuna options they offer as well as the prices and a pushy waitress that was not content allowing me to look at the menu, read and decide what I wanted when I was ready. Seriously, what was with the rush? Even after we finished she seemed to be in a hurry to see us out, she even waited at the table until we paid, talk about an uncomfortable situation. The Sushi roll I got was terrible, my company seemed to enjoy theirs but I did not. The rice was the wrong type for Sushi to begin with, it was undercooked and poorly prepared which gave the roll a bitterness as ill prepared sushi rice generally does. That didn't taste too good with chewy Nori under it and topped with Tuna that wasn't particularly good either, it was pretty flavorless to be honest. The roll had a kimchi sauce drizzled on it but it didn't add much of anything or compliment the roll. The only positive thing I can honestly say about this place is that they do put a lot of effort into presentation from what I saw. The restaurant itself has a comfortable traditional Japanese aesthetic that is pleasing to the eye and a presentable looking dish. Other than the overall presentation and aesthetic this place did not leave a positive impression on me whatsoever. I think they are terribly overpriced and deliver poor service matched with equally poor quality food. I've had worse but again for the price you can expect to pay here there are way better options out there. My recommendation would be to take your business elsewhere. One last note, the restaurant is fairly clean but on my way to the bathroom I could clearly see cobwebs and spiders dangling in that area. That's not an appealing sight when you're about to order food fyi.

Can’t decide between Thai, Korean and Japanese? Do you want your mind to explode over the infinite possibilities of noods? Do you want a soup appetizer followed by MORE SOUP? My soup loving self found joy at Ichi Ni San in Daytona beach’s riverfront district. I started with their shoyu tonkatsu appetizer soup which was practically a half bowl of ramen sans noodles. The broth was perfectly salty, and had a tiny hint of herbs which was refreshing against the rich broth. My father had a tom kha soup appetizer which was again a half portion of a standard ramen bowl. Let me tell you, this tom kha broth was hands down the best I’ve ever had. Creamy, hints of lemongrass and galangal, just the right amount of sweet, heat, and the perfect punch of fish sauce. We also got a spicy crispy calamari appetizer which was cooked well and had a nice variety of tempura veggies in there as well. For mains, pork katsu donburi which had perfectly fried pork and wonderfully fluffy and flavorful rice. Only complaint was it could’ve used more sauce. I got the Hokkaido grilled seafood ramen which had green and black mussels, shrimp, and squid rings. A delicious light broth let the seafood shine and the noodles were cooked to perfect texture. The service was outstanding, three servers and they all checked on us periodically. The food was so good I didn’t even mind sitting outside in near 90 degree heat with a huge thunderstorm looming in the distance (they have inside tables, they were just full when we got there) The menu is extensive but I feel like they do it all well. I’ll definitely be back to try other things once I get through all these leftovers!

Never thought I'd have to write this review, but its important in my heart to share my experience that I had at this restaurant yeaterday so I can warn others who are not dutifully warned of the practices of this restaurant. I walked out feeling mistreated, not heard, unloved, and invalidated.

Businesses are meant to serve the people, to provide care, and honor their customers voice, or be willing to receive feedback. Especially in the restaurant industry.

There were no notifications on the door or menu that this restaurant does not accept returns of meals not liked by their customers.

I went to lunch with my husband and toddler. I ordered a mangolian beef, angel sushi, and edamame. We ordered a shrimp fried rice and egg plant appetizer.

Everything tasted okay except the mongolian beef. The meat had a strong smell in odor, was chewy, and did not taste right. The quality of the meat did not taste right.

I told the waiter that I wanted to order something else because the food was not to my liking and the meat did not taste good.

The waiter to my astonishent said in a summary, no we made the food, you have to pay for it. They are not offering me the option to return the food and order something else without charge. The quality of care in this restaurant has gone down. This is unacceptable.

I asked to speak with the manager, and his response was worst. He said, there are two other people who ordered the mangolian beef and so basically since they did not voice a concern of not liking it, you cannot return. I said, I'm not those two people. He was not apologetic nor concerned that I was an unhappy customer and that the quality of this meal could be improved. He did not offer me to exchange it for something else, nothing.

He then ventured to offer 50% off return, which i accepted unhappily. Otherwise he was not offering to make it right.

So i paid for a meal I did not eat.

The waiter did not come back to our table to check on us.

Then when the waiter brought the bill, he did not honor the agreement. Instead of 50%, he put a lower amount. This is out of integrity.

My husband brought this to his attention, and he changed the amount but still did not put the exact 50% agreed.

I will never honor this type of business practice and will not be returning to this restaurant.

No one deserves to be...

Would really like to give this place more than 3 stars but service was just really strange. First off, the place is not all that large so servers should be able to handle actually providing service.

I had reservations, our party of 4 arrive, and we just kind of stand at the entrance as there is no one greeting customers, my wife notices a table for 4 with a reserved sign on it, so we sit, assuming that must be for us? It was, as eventually someone approaches us and confirms my name. Gives us menus and fills our water glasses explaining that another person will be serving our table.

I'm not high maintenance and don't really expect much from a server other than to approach my table in a reasonable amount of time, greet me and take a drink order. Return with drinks and take food order. Bring out food, check in and make sure all is well, ask if more drinks are needed, etc.

This is where they are dropping the ball and you'll see similar reviews mention problems with service.

We waited for a bit too long to order drinks, or actually see our server. Once ordered drinks were served pretty quickly,. We placed our food order and waited for our food to be served..and waited we did. While each dish was brought out almost individually, but 2 of which were forgotten completely until we mentioned it. My son had ordered a simple fried rice with shrimp from the kids menu which we had to ask about twice.

Honestly, the food is very good, though the portion sizes for the price aren't great. Don't expect to share dishes family style, other than the fried rice dishes, I don't think that would work here. If the service had been decent, I could probably over look the higher price because I really don't mind paying for good service, but don't charge those prices and never offer my table a second drink.

I wanted to update this review to say that they did in fact issue a refund to my credit card which wasn't really necessary, as I mentioned the dishes we had were good, my issues were mainly about the odd service, hopefully they've...
