Checkers — Restaurant in Daytona Beach

9/10/25 Wednesday around 11:30pm I normally never leave reviews of places but the experience was awful. We aren't from here and only went to Checkers for the onion fry and funnel fries. My boyfriend ordered #8 and wanted onion fry instead of fries. I got 2 funnel fries. The older woman with gray hair told us we couldn't substitute but she'll add it on. She had a rude attitude but we ignored it since she seemed to have had an issue with the receipt machine. She had us pull around to the other lane to wait for our food. We watched as a lady with black hair give the person infront of us attitude about a doordash order. We finally get up to the window after waiting patiently. The same woman asked us what we ordered and went looking for the ticket. There was another woman with caramel and brown braids or dreads that were split in the middle and in a ponytail. She was arguing with the Grey hair woman about not giving receipts. It was very heated. I figured they were all stressed out and she was just trying to keep everything going smoothly before they closed, I work retail and service myself for 10 years so I can understand. We were friendly, polite, and understanding the whole time. The woman with caramel/brown hair gave us our food and apologized about everything and we understood. She explained how they ran out of funnel fries and found some and how they were trying to get it made. We thanked her but my boyfriend did not understand that we were still waiting on more and drove off. I told him not too but he misunderstood because she did not say anything about waiting or we're good to go. As I was telling him how we don't have a funnel fry or his onion fry. She yells out the window that she still has food and she didn't tell us to leave. He parks and goes up to wait at the front. There was another guy there waiting over 10mins just to order. They only worked on drive thru and ignored the dude and yelled at him for asking to order. She gave my boyfriend the missing funnel fries, he said how we were also missing the onion fry. She immediately started yelling at him saying he got the onion fry and he shouldn't have drove off. He tried to tell her how he didn't hear her say anything and she kept yelling how we got the onion fry, it's our fault for driving off and she's not a liar. I could hear it from the car in the parking lot. He never got an onion fry. The entire time we tried to be understanding but the way that woman with caramel brown braids/dreads treated everyone and ourselves at the drive thru that day, should be FIRED. That is absolutely no way to run a business and I'm disgusted by the complete disregard for paying customers that were friendly and just wanted the food they paid for. So last night we went by this particular checkers around 5:30 to 5:45. We've ordered at this checker numerous times and it's always been hit or miss last night was definitely. The person taking orders was very rude. We order three meals however we don't Paducah care for soda so we just ordered no drinks. We've done this almost every time that we've gone through a drive-thru and has never been an issue. This lady sure made a big deal out of it so we were being charged for a sandwich and fries. So we just have to redo the orders in order to save a little bit of money and it was like an act of God and the end of the world to get it corrected. So some guy which I assume might be the manager in meantime lady stood there carrying on. So after we got the order in we were asked to pull around to the other in the parking lot. Seem kind of confusing me there was only one car behind us but we did what we asked to do. 20 minutes later we get our food. The fries were cooked in old grease and the burgers really weren't that good either overnight and into the morning my stomach hurt and I've had diarrhea for most of the morning. I will never go back to this particular checkers I would highly recommend anyone that reads this review go...

Because I do not drive as I have. My dad drives me most places due to my history of narcolepsy, We drive up to the drive thru in order accordingly. The one thing that keeps us going back over and over is actually their apple pie desserts. Not only is the price convenient, 2 for $1 on most days when they run the special. They are just plain delicious. Where can you find an apple pie? That is small enough to hold it in your hand inside. A little bag they put it in, and now I have to worry about a mess all over. My only suggestion is to wait a few minutes after you get them. Because they give them to you so hot and fresh that the apple seeps out of the sides when you take a bite. Yes, please do try them. Customer service is amazing, especially at the bridge we go to in Daytona. As the woman at the counter is very animated, a great personality in that she is always in a good mood every time we go. We must get her name next time we go and tell her manager what a good asset she is for...
