Overall mediocre experience. The space was clean and pretty cozy. Servers were nice enough, but felt generally disorganized. As far as the food: I ordered the Caprese Benny with hashbrowns instead of breakfast potatoes because I normally prefer hashbrowns. That was my first mistake. The hashbrowns were not seasoned at all, and the majority of them were burnt. I tried my partner's breakfast potatoes and those were actually really well seasoned and tasted pretty good, so I'd suggest sticking with those. The Caprese Benny itself was just okay. I liked the idea of it, but the execution didn't live up to what I pictured in my mind. One of the eggs was poached perfectly, but the other still had a decent amount of the white that was undercooked and runny. I could barely taste the tomato. The hollandaise sauce looked and tasted like they used the instant powdered packets to make it (which is fine when I make it at home, but I expect more from a restaurant charging that much.) The pesto, fresh mozzarella, and balsamic vinegar really did save it from being a complete disappointment. It wasn't horrible or inedible or anything, just completely underwhelming. I know they are only a few months old, so hopefully they are still learning and improving and if I do return in the future I will be able to see a marked improvement.
My review was 3 stars until the owner responded in a very rude way and admitted that they just... don't season their food... weird way of "explaining" your bland food, and if you're gonna be rude, I take back my benefit of the doubt and will stick with places like Oak Street Cafe. Went from 3 stars to 1 just because the owner was...

$10 for a small mimosa flute $15 for a small mason jar of Bloody Mary that was mostly ice and had 1 quarter of a beef stick and a single cheese curd as garnish. I tried to order the Bloody flight but was told the 2 bloody marries I wanted weren't on the flight and I could only order a traditional bloody and choose from their different vodka flavors. Half the breakfast menu doesn't come with eggs and you have a $5 upcharge to add 2 eggs. When my Bloody Mary came I asked about the advertised chaser that comes with every bloody. My server told me you only get a chaser if you explicitly order a chaser when you order your bloody, they don't offer or give you one otherwise.
Overall the food quality and flavor were fine and I like the vibe of the place. Our drink bill was as expensive as our food bill and we only ordered 2 alcohols and 1 juice. I would not go out of my way to recommend Oakley's but I wouldn't go out of my way to avoid it either. For brunch for 2 with limited drinks and an $75 bill before tip, there are much better places to visit...
Read moreWanted to try something new drove out from Luxemburg about a 40 min drive.. definitely was waste of time and gas and money. Ordered the breakfast nachos and strawberry pancakes. I opted to add chorizo to the nachos it was literally a DUSTING of meat you could not taste it. The strawberries were barely present. The syrup is not real maple syrup if the owner thinks it is he's being ripped off!!! As a chef for 20 years it's really hard to understand why they made the culinary choices they did after putting all the money that was spent on the dining room and bar. Food less than one star coffee over priced for one half of a cup service was good if I was a server there I'd feel bad bringing the plates to customers for the price the owner is asking. I understand why there was no wait will not be back. I wouldn't go back if I was given a gift certificate I would tell the person gifting to get their money back because they were ripped off.. terribly...
