What a pretentious overpriced mess. What culture does this "cultural" center actually provide? You would think you're entering a exclusive club or hotel when you enter and you're immediately checked/scanned for weapons (what?!) by staff when you first enter. The lobby area is nice and there's a cafe I guess but there really isn't anything to do or see on the 1st floor. The second floor has only one exhibit and it costs $20 PER ADULT. The exhibit was laughably small and lackluster given that most museums that charge this price have significantly more things to see! I went during the shark exhibit and they played a potato quality video loop of underwater animals on large hanging fabric via projector. There were far too many videos explaining sharks which felt like the boring videos you were forced to watch in school. There were like 2-3 staff members walking around this room for some reason and 1 sitting outside the doors when you first come in as if they're a bouncer. Again, this place is very pretentious and doesn't provide the adequate amount of space to host several exhibits so the price is ridiculous for what you get. The parking lot is arguably bigger than the building itself. I wish someone with a real vision and appreciation for historic values had built on this slab of space instead this out of...
Read moreThe food was terrible. They are charging fine dining prices for sub-par food. We tried twice once for dinner and once for brunch. Dinner - I ordered the prime rib, and it was very cordy and had very little flavor. The aujue that came with it ruined the prime rib as it was basically hot water. The only thing that was good was the dessert. The setting was also very bad. You are basically sitting in the main lobby, and you had a view of the cafe. I get they want an open concept, but wow. For brunch, the sausages we got were like sticks. They were so hard you could barely chew them. We won't go back for the food.
There is one issue we did see, and I don't think when they designed the place it was thought of. The night we went it most have been snowball or some sort of dance. All the girls were there to take pictures. This was taking place above us in the upper area. I happened to hear them and glanced up and oh crap. It was the world to see. I mentioned it to my wife, and she was, oh, that is not good. Senior management needs to evaluate the situation and get some sort of one-way glass covering for the glass walls and railings. Word of caution to the ladies: Don't wear a skirt and hang out on the upper level. The people below will...
Read moreMy grandchildren and I had fun at the Lego exhibit. It’s a very nice building. Very expensive entry fees. The first time we went there we had lunch at the cafe. It was delicious and the staff was very friendly. We sat in the restaurant area, which is bright and welcoming. We ordered sandwiches at the counter, and they brought them to us, and it was delicious. A little pricey but very good. Second time we ordered at the counter, and when we were walking into dining room, we were stopped and told we couldn’t go in there, because we ordered food to go. I told her we were eating there, but apparently they changed things, and now have a sit in restaurant and a to go counter. Would have been nice to know. We ended up getting box lunches, and what were excellent sandwiches the first time, were soggy, and not very good this time. It was $85, and we left most of the sandwiches in the boxes. There were two guys at the entrance by the metal detectors and one walking around. We felt like we were being watched the whole time we were eating. It just wasn’t comfortable. Probably won’t go back, unless there is a really good exhibit, but won’t eat there again. This might be a good fit for a large city, but doesn’t seem a good fit...
