We had attended a function at the Mulva Center and were hungry after we left. What an absolutely wonderful find we made when we walked into this fantastic Italian restaurant after 9 pm on a Saturday evening. Although it looked liked the restaurant was getting set to close, we were greeted by the friendly and warm Jenna who said that there was definitely something that the kitchen could fix for us. Jenna was our server as well and spoke about their menu with cleexpertise-even told us where the sausage was sourced. After ordering a pan sausage pizza, we ordered a bottle of wine from the reserve wine by glass section. They allowed us to get a full bottle of a wonderful Barbera. Malcolm delivered the wine and spoke about their menu vineyard and winemaker with a passion. The wine was beyond anything we (old oenophiles) ever expected from a small restaurant in in Green Bay Area. The pizza arrive but was the thin crust variety and we were quite happy to eat it rather than wait for the pan style we had ordered. Jenna could not have been nicer about the mistake and, unknown to us, she had the chef, Ham, make us a pan pizza! Both pizzas were the sausage & gardinaira type & had sourdough crust. Being from Chicago, we have strong views on pizza and pizza styles. Trust me when I say that both the cracker thin and pan crust pies were 5 stars. The entire team made us late arrives feel like family and could have done more to make our dinner better. Chef ‘Ham’ came from the kitchen to bring us a pan pizza and apologize for his mistake! Run to thi restaurant if you are lucky enough to be visiting De Pere/ Green Bay Area. We...
Read moreI took my wife here for her birthday to try someplace we had never been before. The staff was extremely friendly and well attentive to our table even with a full house. The food was top notch, and came much quicker than we expected. We didn't know going in that all of the pizza doughs, and pastas are sourdough based and made from scratch in house, which would have been one more reason for us choose this place if we had known that ahead of time since my wife is 100% crunchy mom and even makes her own sourdough products at home. We had the mushroom pasta dish and added chicken to it, and the shrimp pasta dish for our meal, both were excellent and would definitely order either again, even if it meant not being able to try one of the other appetizing things listed on the menu. We had the ricotta starter that was also outstanding. We also saw the table next to us get both thin and deep dish pizza which made us order a hot honey pepperoni pizza to go so we could try it after we so how good neighboring table looked. The pizza was also extremely good, and we have bumped Orsetta to the top of our favorite...
Read moreI will always downgrade an establishment that hits you with the extra credit card fee, this time 3% for using my credit card. No warning from waitress, maybe it was mentioned on the menu but I peruse menus for food and beverage selections. Anyone pricing their product includes all costs with producing that product, including credit card fees. It’s a blatant double dip to charge an extra fee for using a credit card…in my opinion.
On the positive side, the beet salad, while a long wait, was outstanding and the entrees, which came too quickly while still enjoying salad, were generous servings, though no request if we wanted Parmesan or ground pepper. Absent my issue with the credit card fee, they were a solid 3 out of 5. Priced as if a special dining experience but not really a special dining experience.
PS we did enjoy sitting in the furthest back dining area as the front of the house...
