From the second my family and I walked through the door, Detroit Pizza Factory captured our hearts. Honestly, saying we are "SOOOO GLAD" we found this place is an understatement—it was a true highlight that elevated our entire week. This visit was particularly exciting because, confession time: we didn't even realize "Detroit-style pizza" was its own wonderful category of cuisine!
Service that Sets the Standard
What immediately impressed us, even before the food hit the table, was the outstanding team. Every single staff member we encountered was genuinely super nice and incredibly helpful. They sensed our curiosity and took the time to patiently explain what sets the Detroit style apart—that thick, square, buttery crust and those caramelized cheese edges. Their enthusiasm was contagious, and the recommendations they provided were spot-on.
The operational efficiency here is a masterclass in hospitality. The team works seamlessly together, and the entire front-of-house experience felt polished and professional. Even simple things—like finding the lobby and bathrooms impeccably maintained—contribute to an overall sense of care and quality assurance. It was, from start to finish, an awesome experience.
The Culinary Deep Dive
The main event, the pizza, was absolutely fantastic. That signature Detroit crust, perfectly crispy on the outside and wonderfully airy inside, is unlike anything else. But the real star of the show and the highlight of the meal—the dish that earned the title "LIFE CHANGING"—was the Chicken Shawarma Pizza.
We took a leap of faith based on the "pizza guy's" recommendation, and thank goodness we did. The combination of savory, marinated shawarma chicken with fresh toppings and a tangy drizzle was pure perfection. But the surprising element that brought it all together? The pickles! Who knew pickles on a pizza could be so brilliant? It added a salty, vinegary crunch that cut through the richness beautifully, transforming a great pie into a memorable one. Our family devoured it so quickly that, tragically, I completely forgot to capture a single photo for posterity. Trust me, the empty box tells its own story.
If we lived anywhere remotely close, this would be our undisputed weekly pizza place, fo sho! Don't make the mistake of driving past this establishment. Do yourself a favor, try the Detroit style, and absolutely, absolutely try the chicken shawarma. You...
Read moreI never ordered the Pizza from South Dearborn Hts location. I was going to order online but required a credit card or debit to order. Also gave me a few selections of how much I could tip. A tip? Your new to the area. Concentrate on making the Pizza. Allow for cash payment. Are the people nice that check me in and out. What did they do to deserve a tip. I suggest pulling up your big boy or girl pants and pay your employees a wage they can live on. I hate businesses that make such an effort to improve their employees wages without using the money they make from the products they make. If your new business deserves any kind of tip you won't have to make an effort to ask/beg/pressure for it. I always wondered. If the customer ( in this case me) doesn't tip, does anything special happen to my food order? Does anything less then special happen to my food order? Tipping in advance? I've never seen a pizza place ask for a bonus for extra special service before providing extra special service. If your answer is, "trust me, it's worth it" I might suggest trusting the customer to take home the pizza no charge, and we will come back and pay you what it's worth. ( trust US) In the mean time, the pizza business in Dearborn is very competitive. When I didn't order from you on Saturday I ordered a Hawaiian from Marco's for the game. I picked it up, opened the box and took a peak....beautiful. The girl that cooked it and checked me out was a sweetheart. I gave her an extra 10 because she was nice, but mostly because I hope to put and end to Detroit Pizza's way of doing business. ( asking for a tip before doing ANYTHING to deserve a tip. BTW... I also recommend Pizza King, Joe Reno both in Dearborn. Or there's some good Chinese food next to Kroger on Michigan Ave if your not hungry for Pizza anymore after reading my...
Read moreI really wanted to give this a 4 or 5 stars, especially for the good service and how excited I was to try the chicken shawarma pizza. Maybe I set the bar too high but I find the quality of the ingredients and pizza overall to be somewhat disappointing. They had my pizza ready right on time and a very nice employee got me in and out. By the time I got home I was starving from a long day and couldn’t seem to get the toppings to stay on the pizza to save my life. After a very messy first two slices, I decided to let it sit and let the cheese and toppings settle so I can enjoy each slice the proper way. And to be honest I’m getting kind of a frozen pizza type of taste from it now. The diced or cubed grilled chicken has that same bland and almost artificial frozen chicken taste you’d get from a digiorno or freshetta type of product. I’d suggest replacing that with a better quality product like would be in an actual shawarma sandwich in a restaurant. Otherwise the sauce and cheese are pretty good and I’ll probably be giving them another try on their other types of pizza. Like I said maybe I just had too high of expectations thinking I was gonna love it and sounded right up my alley, but turned out to just not...
