We always visit, and I mean ALWAYS, Sweetipie’s but decided to give Rooster’s one good try. We were not disappointed! We were seated immediately and our orders were taken to the kitchen promptly. The food took less than half an hour to receive despite the busyness of Friday lunch rush. We started off with a half-order of bacon cheese fries which were soooo good! They are served with ranch. I ordered a patty melt since it was starred on the menu as a favorite. It was amazing, the sweet caramelization of cooked onion topped a cheeseburger and had a delicious sauce. I could only finish half the sandwich, it’s huge. It comes with homemade chips, they were actually better than I was expecting. My kiddo had the Texas sliders (kid’s meal comes with 2 sliders and the adult slider meal comes with 3). Hubby ordered a meat plate, which I thought was just okay. The sausage piece I sampled from his plate was over-cooked and tasted like it had been reheated because it was too chewy (like it gets when you microwave something too many times). I’m picky about smoked meat though, so I don’t order unless I see it being smoked in front of me (ie Hard Eight). I do have a few cons to point out, but I didn’t deduct stars since overall it was an enjoyable visit. Our server didn’t keep our drinks full; however, she did walk over after we had our food to ask if we needed anything. Also, she didn’t offer to-go boxes even when she noticed how much food we had leftover. We really had a lot leftover, my half sandwich, my child’s slider and fries, and my husband brisket plus my chips. Plenty of food to take home for later!! There is a bar so if you are looking for a Date Night idea, perhaps Rooster’s would be a spot to try in the evening hours.

VETERAN UNFRIENDLY & THEFT by FRAUD. This establishment misrepresents their prices BEWARE! Recent review (05/2025)- The greeter girl was rude. The waitress was ok but this was not a good experience. We ordered 3 basic burgers on the menu for $8.19. Was charged $11.27 each. We ordered 4 honey mustard - were given “rooster sauce” 🤷🏻? (Not what we asked for) and were charged $1.03 each. Daughters ordered root beer - was given bottles at $4.64 each (no refills) Ordered pulled pork Cuban - on menu for $12.31 - was charged $15.39 (wrong cheese given too) Fries on burger up charged (this was disclosed) - but $3.08 for stock fries? (Ripoff) VETERAN DISCOUNT given on my burger only - not even my whole meal - thanks for the $1 off (on a $100 ticket) - don’t offer appreciation to veterans then do this - it’s insulting. So at the least this restaurant defrauded us of $20 or so. If everything was disclosed our bill would have been $60’ish and not $84. DO NOT GIVE THIS BUSINESS YOUR MONEY. They are clearly more interested in stealing/nickel & dining you as a customer than being a small town go to for comfort food. Review from 2023 - Food is good here and wait staff has been good every time we’ve been. This time my wife had the Patty Melt. She thought the bacon jam was way too sweet so it kind of killed the vibe of it for her. Ranch burger was pretty good. We tasted our daughter’s chicken tenders and they were fantastic. We wish we both had also gotten the chicken. Be sure to try the Bean & Brisket Queso! Delicious! See attached for menu/receipt proof.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. We came in Friday night around 9 PM and the place was a little busy but not overwhelmed. Once we were seated it took about 10 minutes for anyone to take our drink order and once our drink order was taken, it took about 15 minutes to actually get drinks. Once we ordered food, it took about 45 minutes for the food to come out and everything was cold like it had just been sitting in the back for a while. We didn’t bother saying anything because we just wanted to get out of there. No one came and checked on us for a good 15 or 20 minutes after our food was brought out and then took them another 15 minutes to close us out once we gave them our credit cards. Overall, very disappointing. I would not recommend if you’re in Decatur.

We love the Denton location so we tried this location and actually had to walk out, which we haven’t had to do in 20 years. From the very beginning the woman seating us was Incredibly rude for no reason to my husband and myself. I guess she didn’t like us as “outsiders.” When we went upstairs, we saw a booth open and asked if we could sit there instead of the tiny table squeezed against the wall (keeping in mind we just asked and it wasn’t a big deal if she said no which happens) but she basically rolled her eyes and said “nope” and sat us, while shooting us dirty looks I guess for daring to question her in a polite manner. That was surprising to us..but THEN she proceeded to deliberately rub it in our faces (very mature) by sitting a couple RIGHT after us at the booth.( while looking at us to see if we were watching) It was unnerving to say the least. I wanted to leave , but we had an appt and my husband wanted to stay and see how it went with another waitress who would actually be helping us. We then had another woman ask for our drink order m, which we gave and then we didn’t see her again once she dropped off the drinks.

We waited and then finally flagged down another waitress who stated our waitress was also the bartender and she would be slower. When we politely asked if she could be let known we were ready to order since we had to make an appt, the blonde waitress looked surprised we would ask and said she’d let the bartender know, but couldn’t guarantee. At this point we both looked at each other and knew we needed to leave. We let the blonde waitress know we were leaving and she looked shocked , stuttering she could take our order if we “had to order then.” But at that point I didn’t trust them to get our orders right, timely, or not to outright do something to us on purpose. They seem popular (like the one in Denton) so maybe they can get away with this lack of service and manners to people and get away with it. I know however it’s just that place and not the town because we went to Trinity next door and it was night and day . They were incredibly friendly, helpful, and everything this place should have been. So beware, if they don’t take a liking to you for any reason, you will get treated badly. Go to...

The food was very very good! However the service for a party of four tonight was not at all pleasant! Waitress was not very nice from the very beginning. It started off with her arriving at our table and we were greeted with “ what do you want to drink ?” Very quick and no “hi how are you” or pleasant greeting! My husband orders a beer to drink while waiting on food and he also requested a sweet tea with his food in which the waitress replies , “what?” She seemed inconvenienced. We order our drinks! Arrives 5 minutes later. She then returns to take our order, seeming rushed and very irritated -and then leaves our table to take another order and leaves that table to take another order before heading to turn in all food orders, which was fine but I think that was the last we saw her for 30 minutes! A young man brought our food out, we finished most of our meal needing refilled drinks as well as a few things with our meal, however she did not return until we ate most of our dinner. We politely asked for ketchup -never got it! Also requested some tea, after three minutes the waitress slammed the drink on the table without saying anything and walked away abruptly. My family and I Felt very disrespected. Never checking to see how our dining experience was going! Then we decided that it would be best if my husband and my daughter and her baby went on out while my son in law stayed at the table to wait on the check to pay our bill, while he is waiting 10 minutes or so a lady comes to bus the booth table we were setting at and not looking she tells the waitress she has a walk out on her at that table! Then turns startled like to see my SIL sitting there and replies “oh I did not see you there” and he replied with “no I am waiting to get the check to pay out!” another 5 to 10 minutes the waitress shows up with the ticket! Seriously, will not be going back to this...
