My son and I are balloon artists and were heading back home after an event out in Graham. We were looking for a place to eat that would be safe for him because of his food allergies. We stopped at a place in Jacksboro, but they couldn't confirm their food would be safe, so we headed to Decatur. I was driving, so he started looking and found State Street Pizza Company and called them to ask about their ingredients. The owners were both in the shop and took the time to go over all the ingredients to confirm that their food would be safe to eat. We were about 30 minute away, so he placed an order for pickup and we headed their way.
We go to the restaurant, and were greeted by super friendly staff. We were both excited to try the pizza, and also thrilled that they had bottled drinks that we both love. I got a Mexican Coke and he got a Jarritos Lime, which are both safe for him and delicious. We took our pizza and got back on the road home.
The pizza was absolutely amazing! We are both pizza lovers and have eaten pizza all over the country. This was easily one of the best pizzas we have ever eaten anywhere. The pizza was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of sauce that was flavorful and delicious. What truly helped set this pizza apart from others was the crust. It was glazed with garlic olive oil and it was incredible! It was like a super delicious bread stick that wrapped around the outside of the pizza. We ordered a large so we would have extra to eat for lunch today, and I am looking forward heating it up in our air fryer and enjoying a second round today!
We both agreed that even though Decatur is about 45 minutes away, it's worth the drive just to go back to State Street Pizza Company for more of their great service and amazing pizza! If you're in the area and love good pizza, I highly making...
Read moreLocated on the old downtown square in Decatur, Texas, State Street Pizza Co is a very welcome addition to the area. You can build your own pizza, choose from different sandwiches, or have a salad by itself or with your meal. Our absolute favorites are the Caesar salad and the Margherita Pizza. The Caesar salad dressing is made in-house and is quite delicious, and the salad includes shaved parmesan and croutons. The Margherita Pizza has a thin crust with fresh mozzarella and basil. The Philly cheesesteak is particularly good as well. Beer and wine are also available. We eat here almost every weekend. Inside is very tastefully decorated and meticulously clean. You walk to the back to order at the counter where you are given a number, which you put on on the top of a metal stand at your table. The folks working there are very nice and always willing to help. The downtown square is a pretty tight area with quite a bit of traffic passing thru, so just take it slow while trying to find a parking spot. If parking is not available on the square, there are small lots around the square as well. You don't want to miss...
Read moreThey got our order wrong (no big deal, things happen). We let them know that the one half was missing the pepperonis and ham as well as the crust not having the garlic crust we asked and our for. They took the pizza and brought it back 2 minutes later and the pepperonis and ham were thrown in there but not cooked like it should be. They brought us some garlic butter for the crust and said “sorry”. The owner/manager was walking around asking every orher table there how there food was (there were only three other tables) but it was obvious she didn’t want to ask us because of the issues she already knew we had. My wife had to go ask for a to go box so she could take the pizza home and cook the rest as it should have been done there. There was no making it right on their part at all. I’ve been a General Manager in the hotel business for 20 years and when we make a mistake we always make it right. We will not be back and we have been loyal customers for years now. The poor management and problem resolution is just the wrong way to run a business. Go to Joes, it’s the same pizza half the price with...
