Let me start by apologizing to the young man. It’s not the owner's son’s fault—it’s his parents’ fault for not teaching him how to be a decent human being.
I actually began driving from Detroit at 11 a.m. to pick up my son in Indiana. I simply wanted to take him to lunch and enjoy a cup of coffee together. When we arrived at 3:42 p.m., we were told by the owner's son that they had stopped serving food. I explained that I hadn’t eaten all day and needed something. He said he could offer us a cold sandwich, which was absolutely fine, but then someone behind him said no. This was while they were still handing out to-go orders to other customers.
After ordering my coffee, I asked if they could recommend a nearby restaurant. He said no. I then asked the girl behind the counter if she knew of a place where we could eat, and she also said no. That’s when I used my “choice” words.
As someone from out of state who chose your establishment to visit, I felt like I was treated like garbage. Do better. Train your staff on how to treat people with basic human decency, or at least better customer service.
Fortunately, I found a diner just around the corner. The woman there was kind enough to give me some crackers while we waited for our food, as I was beginning to feel physically ill.
As for the time you stop serving food, it is not clearly marked on google or on your website and I do not see where it says that... If it is on there somewhere you need to make it more obvious as apparently I am the one at fault for not reading every inch of...
Read moreMy sister-in-law opened this coffee shop 21 years ago. Even though it's under new ownership, they have tried to maintain the atmosphere and menu that she and her staff put in place during their tenure. That said, the execution has definitely suffered since her departure from the business. You can always tell when the water filters haven't been cleaned, drinks are now too sweet, and the quality of ingredients for sandwiches and wraps has declined. Honestly, who is preparing the food could also be a factor. I've had really good wraps there and then some so insipid I wanted to throw them out. I wish I could rely on consistency from this now staple of the Defiance...
Read moreI’ve been going to downtown Cabin Fever since I was a little girl, and every time I walk through those doors it puts a smile on my face. The warm scents of fresh brewed coffee that greet you as you walk through the doors are like a hug for your soul. The cozy atmosphere seems to almost whisper in your ear, “sit down, relax and breathe for a little bit.” The cherry on top on top of it all is that the coffee and food are amazing too. Cabin Fever is my favorite place to brunch either solo or meeting a friend. I’ll be going there for many more...
