I made the trek from Debary this evening to try this place out as I find myself frequently driving past it on the way to other places. The Good: It’s a seat-yourself place with friendly wait-staff. Like their rival, Sonny’s, they serve garlic bread with meals which is honestly better than Sonny’s. The BBQ beans are sweet and tasty and the fried okra is pretty good too. The Bad: The sliced brisket. Not the worst I’ve had but close to it. I had asked my waitress what the difference was between the sliced brisket and their other beef entree and she was pretty elusive and not very knowledgeable despite being friendly. I stuck to the brisket because I knew I would be familiar with the cut of meat anyway. It is hand-down the fattiest brisket I’ve ever had and sliced so thin, it had no body to it (for lack of a better word). You could tell it had been smoked, which is good, and you can smell the smokers going when standing outside the restaurant. The meat just wasn’t very good, unfortunately. I tried all of their BBQ sauces save the sauce for pulled pork. They were okay at best. The hot BBQ sauce is made with cayenne, which (in my opinion) is a cardinal sin for BBQ sauce, unless you’re from Louisiana. The mild was my favorite by far but still left a lot to be desired. When it was time to leave, I considered saying something but the signage on the wall by the cash register where you pay doesn’t make it feel like they’re very open to feedback, even though it’s a joke. Bottom line is that you can eat cheaper at 4Rivers and get WAY better food....
Read moreFirst time here & really wasn't too impressed. Actually, we're pretty disappointed. It smelled GREAT outside, maybe they're using BK's technique of pumping the smell outside to draw you in?? When we walked in, we weren't acknowledged. Okay, we can kinda look past that a little. Since it was our first time there (hubby told her), we asked the waitress about portion size. She gave us a look like we were completely crazy & said, "what do you mean?" in a bit of a rude tone. We reminded her it was our first time & that some places are heavy handed & others aren't. She gave us another weird look & said, "normal?" Okay, whatever. We ordered, my food was BARELY warm. The butter didn't REMOTELY melt on my corn on the cob or toasted bread, it just stood there. My sliced pork's temperature was barely safe to eat. My husband's? He nearly burnt his mouth because all of his food was hot... The way it should be. We compared our quality of service to the rest of the place & it was NOT the same (same waitress). When she gave us the check, she didn't say anything & didn't know we had to pay up front, she never told us. I reminded her that we didn't know where to pay because again, it was our first time there. Others were offered to-go drinks (same waitress) & we weren't. We're NOT going back again. We'll stick with...
Read moreTerrible experience. 1st visit. I walked in no one greeted me. I found the menus. I Figured they are probably were slammed. Decided to look at the menu and see what I wanted for lunch. I decided I would order some items and stay there to eat. I sat in the dining room after washing my hands. I waited over 10 minutes for someone to greet me and take my order. During that time I sent a friend a picture of the menu and let them pick lunch for themselves. I made eye contact with several of the workers that were standing around. I continued to wait. As the time passed and my frustration grew, I googled other restaurants in the area. As I stood up, I could see more than 3 employees standing around the front peeping around the corner. Shame on you all. You don't deserve your jobs. If you are one of the owners you won't survive with Terrible service. Maybe it was my lucky day. I may have dodged food poisoning or someone spitting in my food. I was dressed appropriately with clean shirt, pants, and shoes. My skin was clean. Kind of curious as to what the problem was. Never mind, I would never give you a penny or send anyone your way.
I had a great lunch at your local competition. Tipped great and didn't get a stomach ache or...
