I have no idea why this place is a 4.6.....It is a tired old retro Italian spot that could use a makeover in the decor as well as the food. We ate here last night with friends and my negative experience started when we sat at the table. There was a horrible smell coming off the old plastic tablecloth, YUK!, like the table was washed with a dirty rag. The music is as expected, old school Italian music, speaker at our table was much too loud to be background music. Our server was great they are really nice people here, but the owner is kinda of annoying (sorry but true). I am sure he's a nice older gentleman but he is touchy feely with the women diners including me, he rubbed my shoulder a little too long yikes! That outdated stuff is just not acceptable anymore! The food for me was a 1/5 totally gross. Chicken cutlet was burnt and soggy, baked potato was microwaved, food was very hot but tasteless, except for the salt (everyone could taste that) Cheap ingredients, cheap wine, cheap, tacky, dirty, decor. Bathroom smelled musty too but it was clean enough, I suppose. Portions were smaller than usual and my Husband thought the whole meal was not up to par this time and he loves to eat. I have never had a good meal here but my Husband and friends eat it. We won't be back, we are Italian and from Brooklyn and we can make better Italian food at home. Just another excuse for a terrible Italian restaurant in...
Read moreStopped at this restaurant for dinner one night. Quickly found out that you need reservations. So, I highly recommend making reservations to dine at La Dolce Vita.
I've found that if an Italian restaurant can't make a decent lasagna, it's not worth going back. So, we made reservations for 2 more visits this month!
I am always skeptical when a restaurant advertises New York Style Cheesecake. Then I was told it was made in house and I was saddened because, well. If you know, you know. After taking a bite, I was pleasantly surprised, possibly the best cheesecake I have had in a long, long time. Kudos!
Vince, the owner, came by our table several times to check on us. I told him his lasagna brought tears to my eyes. He said, "like your mom used to make?" My mom was a great cook, but my grandmother even better. I said to him, " no, like my grandmom!"
Treat yourself to a gem next time you are...
Read moreMy family and I had the pleasure of dining at La Dolce Vita this evening for dinner. - We all had a FABULOUS dining experience! The food was exquisite and the service was 5 star! LDV is a family owned business, and the restaurant is quaint and intimate so MAKE A Reservation prior to your arrival because seating is limited. From the time you arrive, to the time you depart, you will be warmly and kindly received. And varying selections by Andrea Bocelli will softly serenade you while you dine. Chef Vince will personally greet you and welcome you prior to placing your order and he will personally see you out. Not only was my stomach happy and full this evening, but my heart was equally as full! Thank you La Dolce Vita for helping to make our summer, family vacation extra special and nice. We very much look forward to...
