I've been here twice, my God. Where do I begin. The staff members are by far the absolute worst people I have ever encountered, and I am dead serious. I wasn't going to leave a bad review because I am really a nice person, but after my experience yesterday, I could not hold back my opinion of this place. I only speak the truth, and the truth is I ordered the shrimp and sausage saute, and the sausage had a bone in it. I showed the bar tender at the time the bone, and she brought it to the managers attention. The manager then claims I won a prize and was lucky in this event but not in a sarcastic charming way but in a passive-aggressive way. No courtesy was offered, not even a free cocktail. They made me feel as if I staged this occurrence even after the bar tender watched me pull the bone out of my mouth with sausage surrounding it. Afterward, I confronted the bar tender about the conversation between myself and the manager, and she had less than anything to say with a confused look on her face. She gets a pass because she's a young kid, but wow, no conscious what so ever. I paid and didn't finish my drink or the food. Foolishly, I went again yesterday to drink and watch the Olympic basketball finals. I ended up getting sick from the drinks( my fault ) and was having a hard time keeping it down. I asked for water, and the bar tender refused and got the manager to kick me out. I didn't say a word to anyone, so I believe it was in poor taste. I was not asking for any more drinks and was tabbed out at the time. The manager proceeded to walk me out with a complimentary water to go, which was the only good part of this experience with him. Then he told me that I wasn't getting banned but couldn't come back until tomorrow. That is okay because there will never be a third time. Clean up your service, and you may have a decent establishment. Stop hiring these young kids who are incompetent. Also, nothing about poor service and bones in your food is funny. Interview people based on basic human interaction skills, please. Hopefully, McGlynns Pub has continued success...
Read moreI went to McGlynn’s pub at Barley Mill Plaza yesterday (May 13, 2025) with a group of nine other women from my Smyrna, Delaware, neighborhood, after a morning tour of the Hagley Museum.
The seating was fine and prompt - we had reserved a table. I felt that being attended to by our waitress (Sheila) took a while, but the restaurant seemed to be fairly busy at roughly 1:30 p.m.
Sheila took our orders - we had asked for separate checks, the person who had made the reservation had checked ahead of time that this would be fine. One woman in our party ordered a reuben sandwich with a special request to leave the sauce off. When it arrived, she realized that the sauce was on, and could not eat it that way. She mentioned this to our waitress, who berated her about not having made her request clear, and our friend decided to let it go, but another person in our party insisted that Sheila get this sandwich replaced this with a new one meeting our friend’s request. Our waitress did abide, but was visibly not happy at all.
Then, when she brought our checks, she had combined on the same check my order with that of the lady seated next to me. We had specifically asked her to put a crab and corn chowder and a French onion soup on one check, and a chicken pesto BLT sandwich on another one (we were going to share the sandwich.) Sheila told us rather rudely that it was going to be too complicated to split our orders onto two separate checks in this fashion. We let it go, but I found this excuse a bit strange.
I realize that anyone can have a bad day, but our waitress’s attitude yesterday was sub par on several levels. We were not really her customers, we were a nuisance, pains in her side.
The food was stellar, though, as was the atmosphere of the place. I seldom dine in the Barley Mill Plaza area, but if I ever do, I will most likely not return...
Read moreSo let me start off by saying I had high hopes for this one .
I didn’t care for the one in Pike creek so much since the food sucked and it also didn’t have the best atmosphere. Me and my husband LOVE greenville and we couldn’t decide on what to eat for dinner . Whether that be Border Cafe, La tolnateca, etc.
Needless to say we should have went to Border Cafe .
Firstly, our waitress was amazing, Super nice and super attentive. We actually gave her a nice top because she can’t help the negatives of this place.
We ordered Nachos that we are pretty sure came out of a Hormel can.
The chili was TASTELESS! The cheese was non existent because the cooks burnt it to a crisp & the jalepenos might as well have been pickles because they weren’t hot at all.
We did however get potstickers as well which were pretty good but $15 for 5 potstickers is a robbery!!!
We hated the apps but thought “ehh, our main food im sure will make up for it”.
Boy were we wrong!
I ended up getting chicken fajitas that didn’t even come with cheese or sour cream (strange), 3 small tortillas and the peppers felt disgusting. They were way too mushy to eat.
My husband ordered the Rueben which he was sooo excited for (6”3 - 330) man … when I tell you he ate his sandwich in two bites .. it was THAT SMALL. No sauce was even on the sandwich (which is NOT A RUEBEN).
The saddest part is the best thing we ate was the side of Mac and cheese (really was amazing) .
Moral of the story is save your self the money and time.
Don’t waste it here just because the outside...
