So I had high hopes and was excited to dine at Kumo, strongly recommended by a friend. However…. Outside of the genuine family owned restaurant feel that I liked a lot - I was not impressed at all. (I am laid back and have worked in the industry so I am kindly understanding etc… it takes a lot to make me have a bad experience). To begin, in a pretty much empty restaurant they sat us near a back corner next to a large - loud- floor fan that was running on high- right next to our table. There was one other table of two persons in the restaurant- so they were not busy. 2, 2 tops… My sushi rolls were supposed to be fresh, cold, rolls. They were well below room- temp warm and falling apart. Portion of wasabi was tiny, portion of ginger small but well…. It was there. My partner ordered Pad Thai. This was the most unfortunate discovery here. Tragic- there was absolutely no trace of that flavor that Pad Thai is known and loved for- the peanut flavor - peanut oil and tamarind- and you can use peanut butter if you don’t have tamarid if needed. There was a side of chopped dry peanuts served with this dish which tasted of a brown gravy & low-mein noodles. Also to note the highest spice level was asked for when ordered - and it was discussed that yes- the highest spice level please for this dish. There was no spicy flavor. None. I tasted it- I don’t enjoy spicy hot- and I know how to cook. It tasted like a sweet brown gravy sauce over the noodles. No spice at all. It would have been nice to bring at least the concerns with the Pad Thai - which was a total miss- to our server - my sushi - well I didn’t want to add that complaint to the list so I crossed that off the “server discussion” list. I thought they made a different dish accidentally- never had the opportunity to try to correct it. The server only returned well after the meal was complete- and we only ate forward as there was no sign that she would come check to see if we liked our food. So kind hearted we are- we just ate the meals. 25 minutes went by. Wondering what in the world happened with two simple meals. We were one of 2 tables there- 2 tables with 2 people at each- - so they were not busy. When our server - finally- came back to take our dishes- I decided to politely ask what had gone wrong with the order. I did explain the “perhaps incorrect meal served” with the Pad Thai experience. She explained that people whom come there do not like that peanut- tamarind flavor so they do not make it like Pad Thai- (although it’s called Pad Thai on the menu)- they make it different. I didn’t mention my sad sushi rolls- and made note to simply get my next sushi craving from Delhi Kroger…. Not here. So……. I scratch my head and just wonder…. Many thoughts on this. I’ve had Pad Thai like 1000 times. It tastes like Pad Thai. If you don’t like the taste you order something else. And you don’t make pad Thai NOT TASTE LIKE PAD THAI. And if it comes to this please note to customers that when you order pad Thai- it’s not going to be pad Thai- FYI…. ? I’m dumbfounded. Recco sweet brown sauce lo mein??? Geesh. Disappointed. So sorry- just not going back. I wish them well and hope they have continued successes. I won’t be a...
Read moreWay to expensive for the below average taste. Ordered delivery didnt take too long but somehow food was still cold when it arrived. "Fried rice" didn't seem very fried. Vegetables seemed fresh but they had a off flavor from the griddle or whatever they were cooked on wasn't inedible but wasn't the caramelized grilled/stir fried flavor i was expecting to taste. I ordered the 25$ steak and chicken combo what it was called and ordered my steak to be medium... it was all basically raw as shown in pictures. All while the chicken and two shrimps that come with the meal were completely dry. Also bought a steak or ground meat eggroll forget what they call it. Not the worst thing ever but very greasy, very bland by itself, and a few gristle bites. Atleast they use fresh steak and I assume they grind it in house. So thats a plus. Carb rangoon was the only thing that really tasted as it should and was cooked properly, rice was good but I wouldn't consider what I received fried rice. The Green salad is a small sald with lettuce, carrot shreds, and some spinach i believe. No dressing. I put some of the sweet chili sauce from my egg roll on it to make it something worth eating. Overall i was very disappointed after spending 53$ for delivery of a meal that was honestly just badly made and under seasoned. Plus just not enough enough for the money 25$ box should atleast include an eggroll and even a canned soda or something. Ill unfortunately not be giving this restaurant another chance. Really wanted it to be good. Biggest waste of my money in a long time. Forget the eggroll dough was also partially raw in the middle.. Remembered when...
Read moreI ordered carryout through their website last night and overall was not impressed.
Things that I did not like website did not give time the food would be done. It appeared they did not even start the order until you actually arrived (when I got there, a guy said he had ordered an hour before he arrived and he still needed to wait 20-30 minutes for his food) Poor customer service. I basically had to flag down an employee and block their way to get them to acknowledge me (10-15 minutes after I walked in to pick up my order). Especially a problem since it appears they don't start your order till you get there. Not clean. As I was standing around waiting for my carry out order my feet were sticking to the floor. If the front of house is this dirty, imagine how gross the parts of the building you can't see must be. Not adhering to covid guidelines. They have a few plastic sheets up in visible places when you come in for show, but they are seating booths back to back with no barriers and WAY less than 6 feet of space, and while their employees wore masks they are not enforcing any facemask guidelines for the public at all(saw about a dozen maskless people come in while waiting for food and not a single staff person mentioned anything)
I could look past some of this list if the food was great, but it was just ok at best. Will...
