Traveled from Phoenix to San Antonio and back over a long weekend, and this was the best meal on the whole trip. Him: the first combo (tamale, relleno, enchilada, taco, beans, rice) Me: # 19, juevos ranchers with corn tortillas, beans and rice. Ordered the green sauce (it automatically comes with cheese) YOU MUST ORDER THIS. Mild, but so tasty. Taco and cheese enchilada were just whatever. Everything else was very good. Sopaipillas were very good. Definitely a locals place. People kept saying hi to each other, waving from tables as they recognized people coming in the door. Prices are great. Less than $30 for a coke, these two big meals, an order of Sopaipillas (plus the two that came with the meals), chips n salsa, extra salsa, and green Chile N cheese sauce.
Minus one star because the staff wasn't what you'd call friendly. They were congenial, efficient, over all, (forgot to bring me a box, then brought me one that was torn both on top and bottom, so it couldn't be secured shut and couldn't keep the food contained. Had to go get one and request specifically one that wasn't torn) I really wanted horchata, but they were out. Husband ordered a fountain Coke ($1.50 on menu) but received a tall bottle ($2 on menu) Looking around, we didn't see a fountain. So not sure about that. Again, servers were efficient and worked well together, they were polite and clean and professional. They just weren't warm and fuzzy. In their defense, the place was constantly busy, and there wasn't much time for niceties and being so efficient :) This will be a must-stop for us if we're even slightly in the area. Si Senor, on the corner of Pine and Silver. I've committed it to memory! Thanks for...
Read moreWe stopped in Deming, NM approximately 6PM on Saturday evening on our way back from Sonora, Mexico. I cannot recommend this restaurant. The food after a very long wait, is brought to the table and not warm. The beans are masked with cheese (i do not understand the overload of cheese). Asked for a side of warm refried beans and what they brought were at room temperature. The waitress said they were microwaved so they should be warm. I could not eat the rice because it was cold as if from a refrigerator. The carnitas in the green chili stew were dry like when meat stew sits out and is not stirred regularly. I never got my green salsa for the chips. The flour tortillas for the fajitas were hard and burnt. They originally brought out sopapillas for the fajitas. The sopapillas were great but not what we were looking for our supper. The waitresses tried their best but apparently not much training going on in the kitchen. I understand they had a special group in the banquet section, but many restaurants can handle regular seating and special groups at the same time. Spoke with the manager who did not seem interested although she compted the meal. We left for the remainder of our drive home, hungry, back...
Read moreTwo stars because I have been here on many occasions and this is the first time it was this bad.
After a super busy day of traveling and visiting with friends the kids and I were starving, and we can’t get green chili like this in Texas :( … Service was a little slow, which I could see they were training so I understood that of course… but why!! Why the food ?!
The food was cold and I asked if they could reheat mine at least because I didn’t want to be a bother… but then when they brought it out all the chili had dried out… 😂 I should of just ate it cold I guess. My kids wouldn’t eat theirs for the same reason so I gave them my rice and beans.
The shredded beef was odd … it was dry and tasteless.
I complained to three different servers in the most polite way I could muster … and not one of them offered a solution… I should of just asked for the manager. Im sure we have all had to pay for plenty of meals that weren’t worth it but that was disappointing.
The last time we came we really enjoyed it. And I always thought it was good growing up here. But after this experience we wont be coming...
