(Update 7-7-25) We have returned for our 18th wedding anniversary! Plus, I had been dreaming of that double barrel pork chop I had ordered the last time. I will include pics for this outing.
My wife chose the surf and turf which looked Great and tasted Great as well according to her. I had the double barrel pork chop but with cheesy grits as a base as a recommendation of our server "Derek". It was delish! Sauteed mushrooms, garlic mash potatoes as sides were very good as well. My wife had a margarita and an Old Fashioned for myself. Both were awesome. The anniversary Creme Brule was their gift to Us. We left "Happy".
You are gonna spend money here but if it is well worth it for a special occasion and the attentive service you receive as well as all the delicious items on the menu. I will try something new next time around.. wife wants that pork chop next time though, haha.
My only Qualm was difference in size of the pork chops between visits. No biggie. 5 out of 5 still recommend 34 Chophouse.
(Oct 24) We don't venture out to eat all that often anymore these days with the cost of everything so high. But.. If you find yourself flush with some extra cash. I'd say take it here and enjoy a nice meal.
With a bit of effort this place is walking distance from our home. In the 15 years we've lived here have watched the downtown area grow and flourish (hopefully this spreads to the rest of the city).
We ended up coming here for my wife's birthday. Is this the nicest place for dining in Denison? In my mind yes. Who would have thought in our town? Great ambiance that is conducive of fond memories. The menu had a great selection of spirits (we did not explore the lounge area) and the food selections we had were ample and very tasty.
Rylie our server was knowledgeable, patient and not over bearing as well as being familiar with celiac (wheat allergy). Another reason I chose this establishment was because of this and foods on the menu being plainly marked with GF.
If you are looking for that Special place to celebrate that Special occasion. "Thirty Four Chop House" is it.
A few pics of our food, but not everything and we...
Read moreWe celebrated our twin sons (adults) birthday dinner here tonight. Food was great. We have been here several times before. All 5 entrées we had were delicious. The tuna appetizer was delicious as were the sides and desserts. My sons were happy with their surprise birthday desserts . The Only reason I did not give this visit 5 stars was because of the service (although our waiter was great otherwise) he picked up all our of appetizer plates and the appetizer itself with still a few bites on the plate without asking if we were finished. We were not. Also one drink we ordered, Doc's Old Fashion was quite small for the price. Maybe an inch tall in the glass...with a beautifully clear 1inch x 1 inch clear ice cube within that 1 inch tall serving. I believe it was $16.
New review from January 2025: we had reservations for a party of 8. Our waiter was spectacular. So wish I could remember his name! Tall, slender gentleman...maybe late 40s or 50s...maybe older I am not good with men's ages. He was awesome. The food was all good but NOTHING was hot. Pretty much all luke warm or worse. For the price (900.00 plus for 8 people) everything should have been cooked properly and hot. For a Saturday night at 7:30 with more empty tables than filled, shows this place is not what it should be. Disappointed. This restaurant could be 5 stars every visit. ...
Read moreI recently dined at 34 Chophouse & Doc’s Lounge in Durant, and it was an unforgettable experience! This spot blends upscale charm with a welcoming vibe, making it perfect for any occasion. The decor is elegant yet cozy, and the staff’s warm, attentive service instantly makes you feel at home. The food? Absolutely divine. The steaks are the stars—my filet mignon was cooked to perfection, tender and packed with smoky flavor. Sides like creamy mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus were spot-on, and the carrot cake dessert was a heavenly balance of moist cake and rich frosting. Every dish showed off the kitchen’s skill and passion. Doc’s Lounge takes it up a notch with its lively yet laid-back atmosphere. The craft cocktails were creative and flawless—proof of their mixology expertise—and the bourbon selection impressed. Live music added a perfect touch, making the night feel special without being over-the-top. What stands out most is the attention to detail. From the seamless service to the thoughtfully crafted menu, everything is executed with care. It’s the kind of place that leaves you eager to return, whether for a celebration or just a treat. If you’re in Durant—or even if you’re not—34 Chophouse & Doc’s Lounge is a must-visit. Five stars don’t do it justice; it’s a true...
