If my son lived within 30m of this place he'd want to be here daily, just to climb and play on the rolling stock of cars/engine they have outside. If you happen to be roughly in the area, check it out, your kids will love it. This is a "I'd give it one star or give it 5 stars" type of place. If you live in the area, it's a gem. We live over 2 hrs away. We can go to Saginaw, but what's outside here in Denison is better. We were already in Frisco, so we went up to check it out. This is a shoestring operation folks. Anyone who bags on it needs a reality check. From what I saw in Frisco, all the railroad museums could be done better, but folks, that costs money. For kids, the rolling stock is the highlight, for old folks, the Katy depot is still standing and you could probably get someone to give you the full tour. I expected more in Frisco, I got about what I...
Read moreWhat a great day trip. Diane Geer was the best. She took us on a complete tour. She gave us the history of this magical place. It was the hub of the KATY railroad then suddenly they sold it and shut the whole facility down. A man who lived in Denison at the time sold all his holdings, took out loans to purchase and save the depot when it was to be torn down. Diane will take you on a tour of yesterday and make you feel like it is today. She makes you feel at home and tells you the complete history in a very exciting way. This would be great for children and adults alike. Thank you...
Read moreWe were looking for a fun stop with our young kids (5 and under). This just wasn't a good fit. Besides a computer train simulation (which they did love), there wasn't anything for them. If you're passionate about Eisenhower or that era, or have a deep love of train memorabilia, it's for you. They have guides who give very in depth tours about town history. Since we aren't locals it wasn't very interesting for us. Recommend for adults and kids over 10. Plan for 20ish minutes as the tour is quite long, even though the museum itself is...
